This is a news article from Global news Calgary. It is about the cuts that the Calgary Board of Education is having to make this year. One small problem with the article. It shows, at about the 40 sec mark, a school band playing while talking about what could potentially be cut from the school curriculum. It imply's that this band could be effected by these cuts. Thing is, the band is the Bishop Grandin Marching Ghosts. A marching band from a High School in the CATHOLIC school district of Calgary, NOT the public school district.

New public schools open as staff cuts loom in Calgary

It's no coincidence music has taken a serious quality dive after arts were first axed heavily.

Then how about showing a clip from a music program in the public system, rather than a clip from a world class Marching Band that has won international competitions that the public school district has NOTHING to do with and never will.

Maybe there are no marching bands left in the public system, of course that would make cutting funding reasonable.

No, there are not any Marching Bands in the public system. As a matter of fact, I believe Bishop Grandin is the only High School in Canada that still has a marching band.
