Mid-term Elections November 7

Lets talk about the upcoming elections.

Is it too early to tell which way these will go overall? Anyone expecting a major surprise either way? How about the issues and candidates - what's happening out there?

This Foley thing seems to be a PITA for the Republicans.

Things can change very fast, the Foley thing doesn't help the Republicans yet at the same time Democrats should be worried about the skeletons in their closet. Then there's the Democrat who stuffed $90,000 in marked bills from a FBI sting in his freezer lol..

The Republicans need a time out, I think I'll change my avatar to reflect my feelings.

I was surprised to see the Washington Times, the most conservative newspaper
in the country call for Dennis Hastert's (Speaker of the House, 3rd in succession to President)
to resign because he knew about Foley's actions and did little about it.

We're ripe for another revolution Jim. The assholes in Congress have lost touch with Americans. It's time for another Tea Party.

Being a Republican I thought the Republican majority congress wasted a lot of opportunity
to do things better.

Conservatives are very dissatisfied.

But who do we have to look forward to ?

We'll join that tea party.

But wide-eyed Nancy Pelosi ??? (positioned for Democrat Speaker of House)

Not her.

Or Conyers ??? (Michigan House Democrat to head Justice Committee, has impeach Bush web site)

Russ Feingold from Wisconsin would get my vote. He has some radical ideas (like health care) which I don't like, but he's a man of integrity and capable of critical thought. If he ran for President I think the people would vote for him.

Term Limits could solve alot of problems, an example would be Ted Kennedy. How long does he need to be a Senator? There must be a few Deomcrats who could have offered new fresh ideas but knew they would never be able to run for the Senate against Ted Kennedy. The same goes for a few Republicans who have been there way to long. The President can only serve two terms so why not members of Congress?

Term limits have always applied to executive branch, but rarely to the legislative
branch.

Both have their pros and cons.

Especially the cons.

Are the politics polarized down south to the point that it really doesn't matter what either side does? No matter what, aren't conservatives voting replublican and liberals voting democrat with a small amount of swing voters in between.

Actually Kreskin I have found this election to be very quiet. It seems everybody has already made up their minds. And if you understand my avatar, you get the picture.

You think the Reps are getting dumped. Who else will a moderate conservative vote for?

Perhaps it will be by no shows at the polls rather than voting for the other side.

The Reps are having problems even in the heartland. Nobody really pays attention to the details of an election, but if you look closely in the Southern states, the margins for the Reps narrowed significantly the last election compared to 2000. It doesn't take much to tip the boat.

The House is of no real consequence, it's the Senate that matters.
