I have a couple of house plants that I suspect are suffering in quiet desperation from this terrible affliction.

... Yet another group that is overlooked

I've had some experience with that. Every plant I've ever had has committed suicide.

Okay, maybe I helped a little. I mean, they can't even get their own damned water. They're just asking too much of me.

What works really well with the young 'uns is to openly question their ability to (insert fetching activity here) in less than X seconds... Questioning one's ability triggers the 'pride response'

Ah, the wisdom that can only be gained by a man who's had occasion to recline upon a sofa on a Sunday afternoon with small people milling about.

Also important is the knowledge that all cookies and sugar based food products should be kept in the lower cabinetry, for those times when the pride response fails and an incentive based response must be elicited. :D

Besides mental health problems, what about the influx of ADD and ADHD diagnosis in children? It seems every other child is taking ritalin these days.

We used to beat 'em into submission. Now we drug 'em into submission. I love progress!

Read Norman Spinrad's short story "No Direction Home" sometime.

Couldn't be all the GMF or other chemicals we ingest could it?

No of course not, our food is perfectly healthy and nutritious...or at least we were until the baby boomers... only the next generation will know the effects of the food that we have fed them...
