I've had some experience with that. Every plant I've ever had has committed suicide.
Okay, maybe I helped a little. I mean, they can't even get their own damned water. They're just asking too much of me.
Never clean up after themselves, just leave their dirt lying around. At least children can fetch the remote....eventually.
What works really well with the young 'uns is to openly question their ability to (insert fetching activity here) in less than X seconds... Questioning one's ability triggers the 'pride response'
Ah, the wisdom that can only be gained by a man who's had occasion to recline upon a sofa on a Sunday afternoon with small people milling about.
Also important is the knowledge that all cookies and sugar based food products should be kept in the lower cabinetry, for those times when the pride response fails and an incentive based response must be elicited.
