Finally something the Rev and I can agree on. The US response to this issue is a joke, and maybe now the full story will start to come out. Just as an aside, I was in the US this past weekend, and consumers there are starting to complain about the high cost of beef and beef related products. I have also heard some news reports about US packing plants closing, and their employees being out of work, due to the lack of product from Canada. Between out of work Americans, and high cost of beef, this issue may be over sooner than we think, and add the alleged coverup of US mad cow cases, well, you get the picture.

RE: Meat Crisis: Shoot, S

High cost in America for lack of Beef.

High cost in Canada for over supply of beef.

It seems to me something wrong with that picture.

The packers not the governments control the Beef in Canada. Thats why an NDP federal government would be good as they would not kiss up to the packers like Liberals and Conservatives.

I am sure the "shoot, shovel and shut up" is a regular occurance south of the Border. Sadley in a strange weird way I can't totally blame them (right or wrong). They know what happened here when BSE became public...... most farmers i believe, are average people like us and have families to take care of.

Unfortunatly, It is more than likely happening here as well, as I am sure farmers don't want to make "that mistake" again.

From just one Canadian BSE cow the US lost several of its beef importing countries. They are still not open. Why would they want to lift the ban on Canada until Japan and the rest of the beef importing countries lift their ban on US beef?

I think you need to look further into the US packers complaints of not having enough cows. They have all the ones that used to exported to take place of the Canuk cows.

You aren't going to win this one here, Elk. The decisions made in the US have been based on nothing but politics, not science. The North American herd has integrated for so long that it is, for all intents and purposes, a single herd. The feed rules, largely because of pressure from US corporations, are the same. Cattle have been moving freely back and forth across the border since before BSE existed, even in Britain.

If we have BSE, you have BSE.

Hey! I get to agree with the Rev again! Sorry, Elk, you are way out on this one. Unless I am mistaken, the next time someone actually dies from BSE in North America will be the first. What about the reports of your packing plants closing and people laid off due to lack of Canadian cows? What about the increasing cost of beef to the US consumer due to lack of Canadian cows? Rev is right, this was strictly politics (and not by GWB, by the way, but those evil dems like Kennedy), because science on both sides of the border has proven that there is no crisis. Think about it, if there was a problem with Canadian beef, all of us loyal beefeaters in Canada should have been dropping like flies at least in the last two years. Again, no one has died from this, or even, to the best of my knowledge, even got sick. Just as an aside, there are only certain parts of a cow that can give you the disease, and in my opinion, if you eat that, you may get what you deserve!! (LOL)

Another anti-Canadian post, Blue? You really hate this country, don't you?

Take a pill, grab a brew, and look at the emoticons. A sense of humor is a wonderful thing, Rev, try it sometime, you might like it! (Or then again, maybe not) 8O

Sorry, but you've been pushing the separtism thing, Blue. You've got a real anti-Canadian strak in you, and I'm sick and tired of it.
