This is not a reasonable citizen. If you can hit someone hard enough to break their cheek bone, you can hit hard enough to fracture a skull. He could have killed the bus driver. This young man is a danger to people around him and we've shown him how little we care about it.

Agreed, #Juan, but we can't be locking up every "unreasonable citizen". I'm not against a couple of weeks in the slammer, but this guy needs counselling and possibly a session or two with a shrink and a good dose of community service.

This guy is a lunatic. My term "reasonable citizen" was a bit of hyperbole and yes, we do need to lock up crazy people who violently attack and injure others.

He definitely was for at least 5 minutes. The burning question is, is he or is he not going to repeat, if other form of treatment is applied? Jail is expensive, not really effective and introduces the denizens to other problematic people.

JLM it doesn't much matter what you and I think. The lady judge thinks he will be a fine person. I think he will be back inside in a month.
Maybe next time he will hit the judge....:smile:

I think he will improve, most people learn from their own mistakes, smart people learn from others' mistakes. I am a little disappointed that part of his sentence didn't involve reparations to the guy he hurt, even if it was $50 a month for a couple of years or he paints the guy's house- something constructive.
