Making it in Edmonton

I'm not sure what is the safest non-motorized form of transportation in my town. It seems like an even split between bicycle and pedestrian incidents I've had here. But I think the worst is walking in the rain. If I had an umbrella, perhaps I would be an easier target to see for those left turning vehicles. Always seems to be those left turning vehicles...

lol...I'm bringing a car and a bike with me then.
So which neighborhoods should I be staying away from? My employer's location is at 17508 116 Avenue NW. I certainly don't want to live downtown and since I'll have a car I'm willing to look into suburbs.

Take a look at spruce grove or St. Albert, St. Alberts nice ,but a little pricey
