I do not consider leadership to be the most important aspect of a party; in particular, considering the fact that the leadership of a party can change during a Parliament and, therefore, we could have a Prime Minister who had not run as such during the election.

are you saying having no vision or direction is acceptable?

the leader usually shapes the party and its direction. You don't have any concern over voting for a party that will discover its direction after it has power?

To take the Liberal slant out of it, what if this was the cons, an election was called, and the new leader could be anything from a "bush-buddy" neocon, to a joe clark? would you really feel comfortable "rolling the dice" on what your going to get?

the caracal kid, I simply meant that even if you do base your vote on the leadership of the party, there is no guarantee that such leadership might not change before the Parliament expires or is dissolved.

I was not attempting to assert that leadership isn't important; rather, I would simply suggest that the direction of the party is more important, in my opinion, than the direction of any one Member of Parliament (in particular, the Prime Minister, or the Leader of the Opposition, or any particular Party Leader).
