Justin Trudeau’s Liberals have a funny way of practising the positive politics they preach.
The day after the Prime Minister told a group of supporters at a fundraiser his party would avoid a negative tone in the coming election, one of his MPs called for Ontario’s premier to be whacked.
“We’re going to have to stand in the face of what very likely will be negative, divisive campaigns while we stay positive, because we know that scaring people and dividing people might lead to short-term electoral gains, but it ends up hurting your capacity to govern for everyone,” Trudeau said Friday.

A day later, Toronto Liberal MP Adam Vaughan insulted Doug Ford by spelling his name incorrectly so that it sounds like the word fraud, invented false policies for Ford, then called for him to be whacked all in one tweet.
“So Frod’s gang could get folks upset over hurting Kindergarten students instead of being angry over the damage he’s done to University students. Next he will go after young offenders & end “free school” in detention centres…instead of playing whack-a-mole; Let’s just whack him,” Vaughan tweeted.
Whack of course of slang for killing someone, often a mob or gang hit.
As Vaughan got push back on Twitter he started sending out doctored photos of children playing whack-a-mole with Ford’s face in place of the mole. Ford’s face has also been doctored to put a clown nose and giant ears on him.
This ladies and gentlemen is the power of positive politics Trudeau style!
When I pointed this out and mentioned Trudeau’s “sunny ways” via Twitter, Vaughan responded.
“‘Sunny ways’ ?!? I thought it was Funny Ways… my bad LOL… cheer up February is almost over!” Vaughan tweeted.
Of course he was saying this on Feb. 2.
This is all beneath Vaughan, not just because of Trudeau’s false promise of positive politics but because whether you take the call for someone to “whack” Ford as an actual threat or simply buy his line of kids playing whack a mole, it still implies violence.
When did it become OK for one elected official to call for violence of any kind against another elected official?
We don’t do that in Canada.
And it certainly isn’t a positive message.
Trudeau has been promising to be positive for a while now, normally followed by a harsh attack on the Conservatives.
He and his team may as well be saying, “We’ll be positive, not like those jerks over there.”
Meanwhile he and his team have called those that have a different political viewpoint “Nazis”, “unCanadian” and racists.
It’s all a bit much.
It’s also a bit much that the Trudeau Liberals have decided to campaign for the 2019 election, not against his challenger Andrew Scheer but against Ford and former federal leader Stephen Harper.
Vaughan in particular has made it a habit to campaign against Ford and his team.
For the past two weeks Vaughan has been claiming on Twitter that the Ford government and specifically Minister Lisa MacLeod won’t sit down at the table to deal with issues related to funding for the illegal border crossers currently swelling the ranks of shelters in Toronto and Ottawa.
Well that would be another thing the Liberals claim not to like, fake news.
Trudeau worried about Ford’s possible education cuts

MacLeod told me she has had face to face meetings with five Trudeau ministers – Goodale, Rodrigues, Garneau, Hussen and Blair – and exchanged letters with a sixth, Duclos.
In addition, MacLeod’s senior staff are having meetings with Blair’s senior staff on the file.
Looks like what Vaughan is putting out on Twitter is exactly what the truth squad that Trudeau wants for the next election would look to shut down.
Look, it’s fine to take jabs at your political opponents, it’s fine to be funny about it or extremely partisan, but to call for violence or spread outright lies is wrong.
Vaughan needs to smarten up, grow up and apologize.

Typical ALT-left hypocritical douchebags "Do as I say, not as I do." How much you wanna bet that despite Groper's assertion that he will "fight against the politics of division wherever I see it", this will go un-fought by Mr. Hero.

LILLEY: Trudeau defends indefensible Vaughan tweet to "whack" Ford

Liberal MP Adam Vaughan (Toronto Sun files)
Being Liberal means never having to say you’re sorry.
Even if you call for a provincial premier to be assassinated.
Even as Justin Trudeau promises a positive campaign.
Over the weekend, Liberal MP Adam Vaughan suggested that someone should do a mob-style hit on Ontario’s premier, Doug Ford.
Asked in the House of Commons to fire his parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, Trudeau balked at showing Adam Vaughan the door.
In a tweet that misspelled Ford’s name so that it rhymed with fraud, not a mistake, and that invented policies that Ford had not put forward but would make him seem harsh, Vaughan ended with a simple line.
“Let’s just whack him,” Vaughan tweeted,

Now where I come from, in Hamilton, saying you will “whack” someone means that you will kill them. It’s a mob hit.
Even if you don’t think that is what Vaughan means, there is no doubt that he was invoking violence against the Premier of Ontario.
A less violent version of “whack” still means to strike, to hit.
In fact, as Vaughan faced backlash over the weekend for suggesting that Ontario’s premier be assassinated, or at the least hit hard, he responded in the strangest way.
Vaughan replied to those that took issue with his statement on Twitter by posting photos of children playing “whack-a-mole” with Ford’s face in the pace of actual moles.
So even that is invoking violence against the premier.
Vaughan actually responded to me with weird tweet when I called him out for his incitement to violence.
“‘Sunny ways’ ?!? I thought it was Funny Ways… my bad LOL… cheer up February is almost over!” Vaughan tweeted.
He wrote that on Feb. 2.
So on Monday, the Conservatives asked Trudeau, the man who had just days earlier claimed that he would only engage in positive politics, how he could stand by Vaughan, his parliamentary secretary.
At first Trudeau refused to answer the question and instead spoke of the passing of Canada’s Auditor General Michael Ferguson.
Ferguson died of cancer over the weekend and all parties paid homage to him in the House, as they should have; Trudeau simply didn’t want to answer.
Pressed again, Trudeau claimed Vaughan had already apologized.
“To all who are offended and missed the original cartoon. Whack was in reference to whack-a-mole,” Vaughan tweeted.
“Not everyone has seen the cartoon and without it the comment lacks context. It was never my intent to suggest anyone, anywhere should inflict real physical harm to Premier Ford. To those who took offense, I’m sorry.”
Of course, by what I saw, and it appears Vaughan has deleted some tweets, the original tweet came out before any reference to “whack-a-mole.”
That was good enough for Trudeau.
“The member in question has apologized for his tweet,” Trudeau said. “It is important that we have civil debate in this house and elsewhere when we have disagreement over public policy.”
This from the man that has called one opponent a piece of “excrement” not the word used in the House.

His staff or cabinet ministers have called opponents, Nazis, racists, neanderthals, unCanadian and more.
But don’t worry, Trudeau will do positive politics.
At the end of the day, Trudeau decided it was better to defend Vaughan than to punt him from his role as a junior cabinet minister.
This isn’t the first time that Vaughan has acted like a bully or had an outburst on Twitter– and it will not be the last.
He is a man who attacks first and thinks later, which may not be unusual on social media, but most of those commenters aren’t elected officials, most of us are not junior cabinet ministers.
Vaughan is a loose canon and if Trudeau doesn’t deal with him soon, then he may end up shooting inside the Liberal ship and help sink it.
