A man who killed his ex-partner's sister and her three children in a house fire has been sentenced to a whole life tariff.

Antonia Gawith had ended an abusive seven-year relationship with Sharaz Ali and was staying with her sister Bryonie when he set fire to the home in Bradford.

Ali was found guilty in December of murdering Bryonie Gawith and her three children.

For his crime, he will never be released from prison.

Ali sentenced to die in prison for murdering woman and her three children

Mr Justice Hillard sentencing Sharaz Ali to die in prison for murdering a woman and her three children.

Ali deliberately set fire to the house in which his ex-girlfriend Antonia Gawith was staying in after she ended her abusive relationship with him. He intended to kill her.

Instead the fire killed Antonia's sister Bryonie and her three children. Antonia survived.

For this crime Ali, 40, has become one of just 75 or so criminals currently serving life sentences with no possibility of parole in the UK. He was also given on top of that 37 years for the attempted murder of Antonia.

His accomplice was also severely punished.

Multiple murders or the murder or murders of children are most likely to result in whole life tariffs.
