The cast of Star Trek Beyond has paid tribute to their late co-star Leonard Nimoy in a touching video as part of a fundraising campaign.
The stars of the upcoming Star Trek blockbuster, including Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana and Zachary Quinto, teamed up with fundraising website Win a Role in Star Trek Beyond | Omaze to launch the Star Trek: To Boldly Go campaign, which encourages fans to donate $10 each for the chance to win a walk-on role in the film.
The proceeds from the fundraising project will benefit nine international charities personally selected by the cast.
As the campaign approaches its final week, the last seven days have been dedicated to Nimoy, who played beloved Star Trek character Mr. Spock on the big and small screen, and his favourite organization, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
In a video on the website, Quinto, who now plays Spock on the big screen, remembers Nimoy as "an actor, a champion of the arts, and a true inspiration to so many."
"Through his legendary portrayal of Spock, he influenced countless scientists and artists - myself and the rest of the cast included. It was an honour and a privilege to know him and to call him a friend."
The footage ends with the entire cast on the Star Trek set giving Spock's trademark Vulcan salute.
The Star Trek: To Boldly Go campaign ends on September 1.

Leonard Nimoy’s son Adam is engaged to marry Star Trek actress Terry Farrell.
Film critic and Star Trek fan Scott Mantz announced on Twitter on Friday that Adam Nimoy, whose late father famously played the original version of half-human half-Vulcan character Spock, was heading down the aisle with Terry.
“RT BREAKING NEWS!! How’s THIS for #StarTrek ROYALTY? TERRY FARRELL & ADAM NIMOY are ENGAGED!! May their love & union LLAP (live long and prosper)!!” he wrote, quoting Spock’s famous phrase, beside a picture of Terry and Adam giving a Vulcan salute.
Terry, who played Jadzia Dax in Star Trek spin-off Deep Space Nine the ’90s, later confirmed the news on Twitter by thanking fans.
“Thank you all for you amazingly sweet well wishes and support! May you all LLAP!!!” she tweeted. After a fan mistakenly thought it was her birthday, the 53-year-old clarified, “I just got engaged and that’s what we’re all talking about! LLAP.”
Another user asked if she was still married to somebody else, and she replied, “No worries I was married, it didn’t work out, and separated in 2014.”
The actress was officially divorced from Brian Baker in December 2015. They have a son named Max, while Adam, a TV director, has a son and daughter with his ex-wife Nancy.
Leonard passed away in February 2015 at the age of 83.
