Well she was just one of many.
That's just how our system works which is probably ok, but if the salaries were reduced for the backbenchers, then those who are making a bigger contribution could get paid more.

It should be reduced for all of them. Remember that in principle each MP is supposed to be equal.

She has no education on any of these issues, so shell have nothing to contribute.
Like many people in parliament, including most cons who have to bow to Harpo and his little clique who will rule the party with an iron fist. Or are you that mentally defective to think some con backbencher will have any say or even input into how this country will be run?
Besides, an opposition back bencher can do very little for their riding except maybe know who to contact in gov to help them with their problem.
Same can be said for the cons backbenchers, wake up!!
I maintain, they are waaaaay over paid for what they contibute and responsibilities they undertake ( which is mostly none).
Applies to all MPs including your beloved PM.
Remember the avg salary in Canada is about $50k / yr, these people are making over three times that. And no education is required!!
One of the major reforms I would like to see is to tie the MP's wages to the median income for Canada but until that is accomplished they are all equal in the eyes of the constitution so deserve equal pay.

Now if Layton were talking less about raising pensions, and more about some kind of compulsory savings scheme and more trades and professional education for the unemployed so that they can get back into the workforce so as to start earning and saving, he might sound more credible. At least then he'd have a plan on where that money would come from. Right now he talks about raising funding, but not on raising revenue for it.
Layton is good on talking, but that is as far as it goes. He talks but what he says is rubbish.

Why is it that you persist in only reffering to the NDP or opposition? Do you think the extra pay doesn't apply to the ruling party and Harpo doesn't hand out cabinet positions to his favorites? If you want to talk about pay scales for MPs you have to apply it equally.

Though like I said before, you wouldn't be crying about this if the Cons were the opposition party. Just like there wasn't a peep from Harpo or Manning about the per vote subsidy when they were a small, struggling party. Such a typical conservative attitude to try to change everything possible in an effort to ensure they remain in power and f*ck the country.

Yep, the Cons are going to remain in power a long time now. Harper will let the NDs be the complimentary opposion party because they are so stupid he can manipulate them any way he wants.
Yahoo, go Cons go !!

Btw, enjoy the screwing PN !!

Well, unless I get a candidate worth voting for next election, it'll be a blank ballot for a third election in a row. I'm sick and tired of casting blank ballots.

Now seeing how the party leadership is performing, it looks like my only chance would be to have a local candidate who is either an independent or at least relatively independent of the party leadership.

Hahaha, yeah, we need 100+ mp's making over $150k / yr + telling us how the gov is spending our money. Hahaha, the MPs that are there probably can't even balance their own expense account. Bunch of useless tits !!!

Then how about you stop stretching your d*ck out for all to see how big it is and take over their jobs to show how much better you can do things?

You complain about Layton flapping his lips on what everyone else should do, yet here you are doing the exact same thing.... the only difference is that you don't have a clue about what you're talking about.

Contempt ??? Not by an unbiased judge, it's like a judge finding a person guilty because the judge wants to use the guilty persons summer cottage. Hahaha, contempt , what a joke.

That made a load of sense

You must be a gov beaucrat or just Plain stupid on gov affairs and how the gov really operates!!

Funny I was going to say the same thing about you, except note you as a Conservative Bureaucrat......

But considering how you can't even spell Bureaucrat properly, one has to really question your own level of knowledge on Government Affairs & How they Really Operate.

Thanks for the laugh though.

You really are pathetic and a prime example of what is wrong with our country and its leadership. So many wannabe americans. I hope you are still happy when the cons lose next time, or when there is so much poverty and unemployment from your f*ck everyone as long as I'm ok mentality and you can't feel safe in your own home. Please do remember that attitude when something happens and you are all of a sudden in need of help from the socialy consious people, make sure you refuse to accept the help and keep your principles.

I would mention just how lowlife you make yourself look with this kind of gloating over 1 election but you wouldn't understand or comprehend.

She'll have more to contribute then you do to these debates.

Besides, an opposition back bencher can do very little for their riding except maybe know who to contact in gov to help them with their problem.

Yeah big deal.... before I left Canada, I only earned about $31k a year, and I don't have an issue with how much they're paid..... because I know what they do and what they need in order to keep doing their job.

If you want people in the government to cut their pay, maybe the people who should start first and lead by example should be the Conservatives...... they get all sorts of kick backs from corporations and oil companies anyways, they can afford it.

Then maybe we can discuss other parties doing the same.

Until then, what you suggest is a "Do as I say, not as I do" ~ Which means there's no point in listening to you flap your lips as you claim Layton does.

Yep, the Cons are going to remain in power a long time now. Harper will let the NDs be the complimentary opposion party because they are so stupid he can manipulate them any way he wants.

I love how you avoided commenting on the question presented to you in regards to tossing your suggestion on all the MP's, including the Cons.

Harper will let the NDP be the "Complimentary Opposition?"

Again you show how much you know about our government, which isn't much.

Harper doesn't let them be anything.... he has no say in who's opposition or who has how many seats to their party..... the citizens of this nation determine this by vote.

And if you think Harper and the Cons can do anything about it and just let the NDP have their position simply out of Harper's good graces, you should simply stop now and walk away before you make more of a fool out of yourself.

Go Cons Go?

You backing a hockey team now?
