Lawyer for Winnipeg judge seeks to ‘terminate’ inquiry, citing bias against client

The more I read about this case I am finding that she did not do anything wrong. Or bring her position as a Judge into disrepute- The knowledge of what her husband had done was common knowledge thru the Legal community.

Christie Blatchford: Lawyer for Winnipeg judge Lori Douglas seeks to

WINNIPEG — A judicial inquiry into the conduct of Manitoba Associate Chief Justice Lori Douglas is on the brink of collapse.

Sheila Block, the lawyer for Judge Douglas, today asked the panel of the Canadian Judicial Council to recuse itself, telling the three judges and two lawyers who sit on the panel that the questioning by the inquiry lawyer, George Macintosh, had revealed “an animus and a bias” against the judge.

“It has raised at least an apprehension of bias,” Ms. Block said. “The committee should stand down and terminate this proceeding.”

Inquiry counsel — Mr. Macintosh — is to advise the panel. Independent counsel — Guy Pratte and Kirsten Crain — have a different role, to investigate the allegations and present all the evidence.

Unusually, the senior independent counsel, Mr. Pratte, agreed with Ms. Block that “the appearance [of unfairness to Judge Douglas] is incontestable.”

He said the appearance is that witnesses favourable to the judge were twice subjected to “a strong, co-ordinated attack” by Mr. Macintosh.

It's a witch hunt and a complete waste of taxpayers money.

I admit I thought she was guilty- I was wrong- And I agree it looks more and more as each day passes that she is innocent- Her husband is a scummy sort- her accuser is the same except really scummy. Crooked as a dogs hind leg

Guilty of what????????????????

Of knowing that her husband was arranging for a 3some with a client of his at the time they all met. That would be against ethics- Not the 3some. The using of a client.
