Langley Bc

A nice small town. My daughter lives in Langley. It is just big enough to have several good restaurants along with at least one of all the fast food outlets like MacDonalds, Wendys, etc. The big food stores are there as well as the big department stores.
It's a long process probably, but we might be inheriting something there.
We're still going through the process. I'll tell you the Public Guardian of BC has been very helpful, informative and responds quickly to all inquiries.
So I go on google earth and this whole Vancouver area is quite an island oasis bounded by mountains and ocean. It looks like quite a ride over the mountain passes out of there.

I'm not sure what to do here.
I have a lawyer in Vancouver who has asked us what to do with the contents of a condominum in Langley BC.
We live in Virginia.
I know we don't want any of the furniture even if it is quality made.
I do want to donate any research notes this man has done for a book he published.
No one has catalogued or listed the contents therein.
Anybody ever deal with a similar situation ?

Langley is OK, I lived close by for several years, BUT, if you are going to work in Vancouver,
or Richmond, your drive each day will be very slow and tiring.
Langley is in a good location for travel, as you can go to the u.s. very easy, or into the
interior of B.C., very easy, and there is still lost of farm land on the outskirts, if that is
your choice. It is very flat, lots of shopping, and good residential areas. If you like
horses, there are many ranches in the area, and lots of horse shows.
Fort Langley, which is right on the Fraser River, is not far, and is a very pretty heritage
area. There are lots of golf courses, and the whole area is very green.
There is also a 'small' airport close by.

I assume you know this gentleman well enough to know where he worked? If he had colleagues they might be able to provide you with some organizations that would accept your friend's research notes.
As for disposing of the estate - there are also agencies that provide this service I believe... would it not be worth your while to make a trip to Langley to deal with some of this? It could be a vacation for you as well - if you've never been up to Canada - particularly British Columbia - you should really avail yourself of the opportunity to do so. If you've become the owner of property there, again, I would urge you to visit and see what a wonderful little treasure you've just inherited.
btw - I live in Alberta - and the trip through the mountains isn't so bad - about 8 - 10 hours depending on how heavy your foot is. ;-) The roads are excellent all the way through in the summer - unless there's rock slides or forest fires to contend with - that can slow things up a bit.
But I've done the drive umpteen times and never had a problem. If you've got time, taking several days to wander through the Rockies is a wonderful way to spend a few days.
