Oh my god - "Rock and Rule" is coming out on DVD? That's hilarious! Debbie Harry is in that movie!

Good Canadian films:

"Highway 61"
"Kissed"
Anything by Atom Egoyan especially "The Sweet Hereafter", "Exotica", or "Ararat"
Anything by David Cronenberg

There's that werewolf movie about the two sisters...sorry but I can't remember the name.

it's Ginger Snap, very good movies, they made 3 of those, but the thirth one is not that good.

it's true that quebec movies get way more audiance than canadian movies, but maybe it's because we go more often at movies theatres ? Le Survenant made it to the top 20 in term of profit for the whole north america, and it's only presented in quebec...

Maybe, but I think it's more because people is starting to understand that we can make very good movies. Before, everything made in Québec was seen as cheap, boring and couldn't compete with the American market. There is a big shift in mentality going on in this area, thanks to our great authors. Thanks also to Americans that can't stop making crappy movies.

I've seen a few Quebec movies. Cheap and boring don't seem to fit their profile. First they don't have the hollywood budget but they end up making up for that with story, content, and character development. Unforunately I don't remember any titles, I can't speak a lick of french. The last one I saw had a community with the name of Bear in it. Subtitles are great but my other half (who speaks french) say the subtitles are horribly misconscrued.

Arat (SP??) was really good. Don't ask me who was in it, or who directed it....detail, details.

It was about Armenian genocide in perpetrated by the Turks.

Les Boys (I own all three on dvd)
Lotus Eaters
I Love a Man in Uniform

The bottom two are in English. Actually, if you want to find out about good Canadian films, watch CBC after Zed every weeknight. They usually air a movie, and at times it'll be Canadian movies. That's how I found out about the above three movies, which I finally own copies of. :)

Although most have seen it already, Hard Core Logo is worth mentioning as a great Canadian movie.
