King presents Coldstream Guards with new colours

King Charles III has honoured the British Army regiment the Coldstream Guards by presenting them with new colours to mark their 375th anniversary.

The King is Colonel-in-Chief of the regiment as well as Commander-in-Chief of the British Armed Forces.

The ceremony took place on Friday 13th June at Windsor Castle.

120 British soldiers of the Coldstream Guards travelled from King's Cross by train to Berwick-upon-Tweed - England's most northerly town and almost on the Scottish border - to be where the regiment was founded in 1650 when England was a republic.

Commuters at London's King's Cross train station weren't expecting to see the soldiers marching through it.

It was quite a challenge to get 120 huge strapping young men on the train along with their SA80 rifles...

Nothing worse than sitting on public transport. I get stressed on the 524 Bee Network bus to work every morning and that journey is only around 5 minutes. I'd lose the will to live on a train from London to Berwick.
