British monarch King Charles III has bestowed new colours onto the British Army's Irish Guards in an age-old ceremony.
The King, who is not only Commander-in-Chief of the British Armed Forces but is also Field Marshal in the British Army, wore his Field Marshal uniform as he bestowed the new colours upon the regiment that he made Catherine, Princess of Wales, the Colonel-in-Chief of last year.
His Majesty presented the new colours ahead of Trooping the Colour - which is the Sovereign's Birthday Parade which is almost always held in May or June whatever the monarch's date of birth - and this year it will be this Saturday 15th June.
