King Charles III has awarded a former hospital patient with the George Medal for outstanding bravery in stopping a man detonating a bomb in a hospital.
Nathan Newby, a patient at a Leeds hospital, spent several hours with the would-be attacker Mohammad Farooq, even hugging him to keep him calm.
The King decided to award him the George Medal and today His Majesty did just that.
The George Medal was instituted in 1940 by King Charles III's grandfather King George VI, awarded for gallantry, typically by civilians, or in circumstances where military honours are not appropriate.
Only around 2200 people have been awarded the medal since 1940, and the King has decided that Nathan should be the latest recipient.
As for Farooq, he was sentenced to 37 years in prison.
