King Charles III and Queen Camilla were pulled away from an event on the island of Jersey today after their Close Protection Officers - the British equivalent of America's Secret Service - became concerned about something.

The Queen, 76, who was eating ice cream and enjoying herself, was visibly annoyed at not being able to talk to the crowd and receive flowers. She was taken into a nearby hotel for her safety.

Turns out it was a false alarm and Their Majesties continued their engagements on the Channel Island.

Maybe things are a bit jittery after what's just happened in America.

The King - who is the Head of State of Jersey, which is just off the Normandy coast - went on to make a speech at a special sitting of the British Crown Dependency's parliament - the States Assembly - in St Helier.
