The King and Queen were here in my hometown of Bolton, Greater Manchester, today to mark the 150th anniversary of Bolton town hall. I didn't see them in person as I was in work but I would have liked to have done.
Bolton town hall was opened on 4th June 1873 (above) by King Charles III's great-great-grandfather the Prince of Wales (the future King Edward VII). It cost £167,000 (equivalent to £15,130,000 in 2020), this being the most expensive town hall built in the country up to that time.
