The King and Queen have arrived in Germany for the first State Visit of the King's reign.

His first State Visit should have been in France but it was postponed due to riots.

King Charles III arrived at Berlin-Brandenburg Airport in Germany on Wednesday, his first international visit as the monarch.

Charles is making his world debut three days later and 550 miles northeast of where he had intended, due to the cancellation of his trip to France amid ongoing protests.

The British Head of State and his wife Queen Camilla met the German Head of State President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife.

The King and Queen welcome guests to a banquet in Berlin hosted by President Steinmeier.

The King and Queen's State Visit comes amidst news that the Queen's friend - TV presenter and comedian Paul O'Grady - has died at the age of 67.

The King and Queen brave the rain as they arrive in Hamburg for their state visit.

The royal pair visit the Kindertransport Memorial where Camilla lays flowers to remember those who lost their lives in the Holocaust.

The King and Queen pay their respects to World War Two victims at the St Nikolai Memorial Church in Hamburg, which was destroyed when Allies bombed the city during the war.

The Queen impresses Axel Scheffler - illustrator of children’s book The Gruffalo - with her drawing of the famous titular.

Camilla also reveals her love of gardening, swimming in the sea and horses, whilst answering questions from children at the Rudolf Ross Grundschule school in Hamburg.

The King and Queen enjoy a concert during a reception of communities as their state visit to Germany draws to a close. The King is gifted tea from a local business before enjoying a pint of beer in Hamburg.

My wife still lived in Germany when the wall came down. She said it was quite impressive. Also got to see relatives that had been locked on the east side.
