Kevin O’Leary drops out, endorses Maxime Bernier for Conservative leadership

Kevin O'Leary is dropping out of the Conservative leadership race and endorsing Maxime Bernier because he says he can't win a general election due to lack of support in Quebec.

In a stunning move that will rock the race and solidify Mr. Bernier as the sole frontrunner in the May 27 vote, Mr. O'Leary says he will now put his time and effort into electing Mr. Bernier as leader and helping him beat Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's Liberals in 2019.

"It's for the sake of the party that I do this, and the country. Because I can't deliver Quebec. I can't win. That's my opinion. I wish it was different," he said in an interview with The Globe and Mail at his downtown Toronto office.

It was the plan all along. I'll be voting for Kellie.

She's a lame duck too. Mr. Dumpster Fire is making enemies here so her mimicking of Trump style won't be a 'vote getter' by the next election.

Don't forget. Young people have realized old brain deaders like you don't have their best interests at heart.
You're just greedy xenophobic Luddites.

Kevin's reasoning makes perfect sense. You have to get more than 12% in Quebec to eventually win as PM.

Kevin did the right thing for the Conservatives to have a good chance to hold power in 2019.

The question is where will O'Leary voters go? Or will some of them just not bother? According to Andrew Scheer, he's the number two after O'Leary, not Bernier. He sent this out today.

A poll of over 2,000 members conducted by Mainstreet Research released today shows:

O'Leary - 26.3%
Scheer - 16.7%
Bernier - 14.2%
O'Toole - 7.8%

The Conservatives should be soul-searching and figuring out what sort of party they want to be. They need to represent the wishes of the Canadian people and, right now, that seems to be a long way away from where the Republican wannabees see themselves. Where do moderate Conservatives like me go? We didn't leave the Conservative party. The party left us.

Time to relegate the Reform Party to history. Their time has come and gone.

I do not like O'Leary that being said he at least had a vision and direction
not one I agree with but a vision. Right now faced with an election no one
would beat the Prime Minister and looking around I don't see a present Tory
who could. The NDP is flirting with a hike into the wilderness again with a
flock of uncoordinated activists, they are going to be reduced to a smaller
rump after the next election the Greens are who they are but no match for
the Liberals. We don't have real leadership at the moment and no one on
the horizon
