Nine wins in a row and a 3.5 game lead in their division; could this be the year?

i'm enjoying it a lot, they are playing good ball, they are having fun, everything is going their

way, so take it as far as it will go, and maybe, just maybe, it will be all the way,

and if it doesn't, then it was fun while it lasted, certainly allready much better than

last year, and i even watched them then, cause i like baseball and fastpitch, have for years,

lots of strategy, and when a team is hot, it is lots of fun.

They are obviously putting themselves in a good position right now, but there is a lot of baseball left to play.

If they can stay healthy, and if some of these break out guys can keep up their level of play, it could be a good year.

It would also help if the Yankees stayed injured and didn't put in too much effort.

Seems to me they were in this position before.. when Roy Halladay was their ace.. went 11 in a row in May.. and missed the playoffs. It's the gritty dog days of summer.. when the Yankees and Red Sox come into full form that will tell the tale.

But on an optimistic note.. this is the most balanced Blue Jays teams in terms of pitching, batting and fielding that they've had since the championship years of 92/93. If they can stay healthy.. well we'll see.

If they keep playing the way they are now, yes. However, things always look rosy during winning streaks. And the Jays have had losing streaks of equally significant lengths in past years.

Will see if they hold it past the all star break and into August/September.

Their fielding percentage is great, such an improvement from last year. Things are going well, let's hope they keep it up. Exciting ball to watch, I might even consider a trip to Toronto to see them play this summer if they keep it up.

With 5 games remaining and the Blue Jays 6 games out of a Wild Card.. it means even the faintest hope of the post season has vanished.

They put up a good run this year. But they had some traits that differed the Blue Jays of 1992/93.. and most teams that make the playoffs.

1. 'Streaky' teams.. and the Blue Jays spent the season in extended winning or losing streaks.. especially in August when went 8 and 19.. do not usually advance. Those with rock hard consistency, winning series 2 of 3 or 3 of 4 do.

2. The most telling characteristic of the Championship Blue Jay teams was there ability to comeback in the 7th, 8th and 9 innings. They were never out of games It speaks to depth of the bullpen, hitting lineup, defense and character. The Jays did some of that, but not with the predicability of 92/93.

They were a good, well balanced team. But it became evident early on that they weren't championship calibre. At least they buried those damned Red Sox, who collapsed this year.. if not the damned Yankees.

i watched and enjoyed the jays all summer, a very good team that had some bad luck at a
crucial time in the season. lawrie (sp?) can't seem to stay healthy, that hurt the team, he is
an amazing 3rd baseman, and his bats started to come around, then he would be hurt, and
hasn't had enough time to really get the bat going to build a good average.
encarnacian got hurt when he was hitting great, that also hurt, lind was hurt for a while,
even bautista was out for a while, all of those players are the hitters on the team.
i don't care, i still enjoy the games, and also the other teams they play.
there is good young talent coming, and also good young pitchers, so i see a much better
year next year, without injuries of course.

i wonder if cabrera will resign, he was playing amazing ball, but he will be offered so
much money from other teams to play that it seems unlikely that he will return.

just like hockey, i watch the games for the sport, not to just see one team, i like all of
the games, and many other teams As well.
