Well you are in error. Properties not listed as a pricipal residence (rentals- Condos ect) are entitled to tax deducions and Cap Gains as well when sold.

Not grasping the concept again I see. I'm aware of what the tax law states. The issue I have is with the complexity of the law. Do I need to start using smaller words for you?

You would need to be well versed in both the Land Title Act and Income Tax Act to know for sure. That's about 7000 pages of hardcore legalese. Have fun and let me know when your done and understand it all. ;-)

What about when someone stakes a mineral claim to your land and moves in with a mining operation. You can run to court and plead ignorance of the law that allows them to do it all you want but ignorance is no excuse so you are SOL. Maybe you should read those laws! 8O

There has been mineral claims on our land for about 150 years. Anyway they only apply to sub surface. The surface IS ALR. GOOD LUCK GETTING THAT REMOVED.

Don't be dim, only an idiot would think that.
I like that, can I use it too???

But say I was going to start up a wh*re house, then I would read up on all the laws pertaining to wh*re houses!
Let me know if you ever do, JLM..........I would gladly be your madam er......manager, that's what I meant, manager. LOL!

I think the main point here is that the law SHOULD be easily understood by everyone but most of it isn't. This is the great failing of most modern justice systems. Legalese should be against the law.

Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.

If only we adhered to that basic premise, there would be little need for laws. Such not being the case it would be all but impossible for the average person to understand all the laws in Canada no matter the language.

I am blissfully unaware of many laws in Canada, simply because they have absolutely no bearing on my life. The laws I am aware of were learned as a necessary part of growing up and taking on more responsibilities. Learning to drive, becoming an employee, paying taxes, the list is long but never did I have a problem understanding the law as it applied to what I was doing. When the occasion arose where I needed to learn a new 'law' such as The Worker's Compensation Act, I had little trouble understanding exactly what I had to do to comply.

The obvious distortion of truth evident in the title of this thread does little to enhance the integrity of its author.
