Islamic law is to be effectively enshrined in the British legal system for the first time under guidelines for solicitors on drawing up “Sharia compliant” wills.

Under ground-breaking guidance, produced by The Law Society, High Street solicitors will be able to write Islamic wills that deny women an equal share of inheritances and exclude unbelievers altogether.

The documents, which would be recognised by Britain’s courts, will also prevent children born out of wedlock – and even those who have been adopted – from being counted as legitimate heirs.

Anyone married in a church, or in a civil ceremony, could be excluded from succession under Sharia principles, which recognise only Muslim weddings for inheritance purposes.

I always did have my suspicions on British intelligence, now I pretty well convinced.

This is nothing new: under British law you've been able to exclude just about anybody in your will for just about any reason. This is just another lie to baffle and agitate the ignorant.

Worked, too.

If I recall correctly, in Canada a married couple, man dies, 1/2 of the assets, my law and at a minimum are inherited by the wife.
Does the UK have similar laws?

Canadian law follows civil-law countries in having "forced heirship," i.e., a portion of the estate must go to the next of kin whether the decedent wishes it or not, and the remainder is distributed according to the will. The U.S. and UK have "testamentary freedom." You can cut anybody out of inheritance in your will for any reason.

This is rather amusing. The same right-wing Brits who no doubt approved of all the wills drawn over the centuries that cut out any relative who converted to Catholicism or married a Catholic are now finding that same law used against those who would marry in the Church of England.

It's poetic justice.

It makes a change from the divorce system, which allows women to take everything in a marriage, leaving the man homeless, possessionless and potless, even if it was her bad behaviour which led to the divorce.

I've never heard of such a law (knowing your record you are either badly confused or making it up) but, even if such a law did exist, then it was a good, just law which made Britain a better place. Anybody who converts, or marries into, the corrupt and idolatrous Catholic Church - the same Catholic Church which has sought to do Britain harm for centuries - rightly needs to be punished.

I encourage you to have a will drawn. Your solicitor will answer any questions you have.

I don't believe anything you say. You're about as accurate as a Global Warming prediction.

And I ain't drawing up a will. I don't intend on dying.

have you found some fountain of youth and not shared with all of your close friends in here?

if you own land you should have a will, not to mention a living will to protect your right to die if you so choose instead of remaining a vegetable on life support. It happens. Maybe already did. :p

sorry, the opening was there...I had to take it.

Yes, he has achieved that status. Reason why he hate vegans. He sees the look of hunger in their eyes.
