I live in the US and much of our "customer service" has been moved to India and other places where they can pay them $2.00 per hour.

Outsourcing and Globalization, NickFun ... it is the way of the future. Companies will do whatever they can to increase business. Outsourcing overseas has really taken off the last 5 years or so.

You must be referring to South Korea, Manda which isn't a Communist country. I highly doubt Canada has any kind of diplomatic relations with North Korea. I know the US doesn't.

I know that we are not openly hostile with North Korea...diplomatic relations...what country does have them with North Korea? I was just making a point, the country I wanted to most enforce was cuba...Great place to get a tan

Yeah, I know mrmom. However, they usually travel to Cuba via Canada. Miami Florida last I remember, only had 2 flights a month to and from Cuba. Those flights were mainly for family visits and/or for any new immigrants who were successful enough to get a "leaving pass" from Castro.

Good point Manda. Cuba is indeed popular with both Canadian and European tourists. Few Americans go there. Personally, I prefer to Vacation in Jamaica or the Cayman Islands.

There are two great ways to ward off the telemarketers. (in canada at least) if you really can't handle letting the phone ring until the machine picks up.

1) unlisted phone number!

2) as soon as the lady/gent on the other end tells where they are calling from, tell them to hang on a second, cover the phone, then come back and say "I am legally obligated to tell you that this call is being recorded..." most call centres have a policy that their phone-jockeys are to disconnect the call at this point.

Yes, this is the right thread... albeit a bit of a late post to it... i was just commenting on the previous posts (before things went off on a tangent about Cuban suntans, cigars and booze) regarding the telemarketers/no call list/ etc etc

note to self: start using quotes when joining late! /sticks note on monitor
