Is justice delayed equals justice denied?

Hello,

I wish to debate on this topic justice delayed is justice denied. Sometimes, certain lawsuits takes years for judgement. The patient approach is required for segregating the innocent from the guilt. And in its pursuit, sometimes, the real culprits escapes. Is fast forward hearing best for quick delivery of justice?

I suppose every case is different but I suspect a lot of people are "playing games". Take the Vader case in AB where he is accused of murdering the elderly couple near Edson. He's missed about umpteen court appearances because his broke down on the way to court, among other things! It's just lucky for him the people involved have more patience than I do, considering where his D.N.A. has allegedly appeared!

Could always go back to a rope and a tree. Would that make you feel better?

You are right about that one. People sometimes delay on purpose

I suppose there's always going to be cases where it would be tempting. In that case I'd say keep him in custody for the duration of the trial. Apparently his D.N.A. was found in the motor home. What would your conclusion be? :)

Sometimes even with the substantial evidence, the case gets prolonged. I personally know a criminal defense lawyer's firm in Toronto. They told me that in rare occasions, it could get hard to give justice for the clients in time. To achieve transparency in judgments, it is important that we follow a steady pace. Long before in the times of the Kings and Monarchs, the judgement were quick. And so it lacked transparency.

Do you have any suggestions on this problem? My only suggestion would be the simplest, hire more people to do the job. In the case of those that extend their court dates, give them one missed then tossed into jail to wait for it to be re-scheduled.

Just one big problem. The Justice System is part of gov't. Everything that is part of gov't necessitates hiring half a dozen bureaucrats for every key person.
