Militants from Hezbollah, which, like Hamas, is backed by Iran, fired into Israel on the heels of Hamas’s deadly incursion in October that Israeli officials say killed 1,200 Israelis, sparking the conflict. Israel’s war in the enclave has left more than 28,000 people dead, mostly women and children, according to (the Hamas run) Palestinian health authorities. The figures don’t distinguish between civilians and combatants. Not all Palestinians are Hamas, but all Hamas are Palestinians, except the ones that aren’t I guess…

Israel carried out an extensive series of strikes inside Lebanon Wednesday after militants fired a series of rockets at an Israeli military base and a nearby city, killing one Israeli and injuring seven, Israeli officials said, in an escalation that threatens to undermine weekslong negotiations to defuse tensions in the region.

Iran, eager to disrupt U.S. and Israeli interests in the Middle East but wary of provoking a direct confrontation, is privately urging Hezbollah and other armed groups to exercise restraint against U.S. forces, according to officials in the region.

Israel’s brutal war on Hamas in Gaza has stoked conflict between the United States and Iran’s proxy forces on multiple fronts. With no cease-fire in sight, Iran could face the most significant test yet of its ability to exert influence over these allied militias.

When U.S. forces launched strikes this month on Iranian-backed groups in Yemen, Syria and Iraq, Tehran publicly warned that its military was ready to respond to any threat. But in private, senior leaders are urging caution, according to Lebanese and Iraqi officials who were briefed on the talks. They spoke to The Washington Post on the condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive conversations.
Whoopsies? “Iran may have realized their interests are not served by allowing their proxies unrestricted ability to attack U.S. and coalition forces,” one U.S. official said, speaking on the also condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive matter. Shhhhh….

It’s been a balancing act for Iran since Oct. 7, when Hamas’s surprise attack on Israeli communities near Gaza triggered the war there.

The Iranian-backed groups form the self-styled “axis of resistance,” a loose alliance of armed militias that includes Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, and Kataib Hezbollah in Iraq and Syria. Tehran uses them to spread its influence across the region and serve as a forward line of defense against the United States and Israel.

Is it working? The Iran-aligned Houthis have launched repeated attacks on ships in the region since November.

Yemen’s Houthis have announced they have “banned” vessels linked to Israel, the United States and United Kingdom from sailing in surrounding seas, as the rebels seek to reinforce their military campaign, which they say “is in support of Palestinians in Gaza” which is convenient.
The Houthis’ communication, the first to the shipping industry outlining a formalised ban in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea, came in the form of two notices, Reuters said.

It affects vessels wholly or partially owned by Israeli, American and British individuals or entities, as well as those sailing under their flags….or have expensive cargos, or are convenient at the time, or can be claimed as being confused as one of the ships they’re supposedly supposed to be targeting, etc…

The warning came amid continuing Houthi attacks that have disrupted international trade on the shortest shipping route between Europe and Asia, and counterattacks by US and British forces hoping to deter the rebels, etc…

This is sooo a week ago, but Iranic. Feb 20 (Reuters) - The Greek-flagged bulk cargo vessel Sea Champion arrived in the southern Yemeni port of Aden on Tuesday after being attacked in the Red Sea in what appeared to have been a mistaken missile strike by Houthi militia, shipping and military sources said.

Shipping risks have escalated due to repeateddrone and missile strikes in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait by the Iran-aligned Houthis since November. U.S. and British forces have responded with several strikes on Houthi facilities but have so far failed to halt the attacks.

The U.S. military's Central Command said late on Tuesday that the Houthis had fired two anti-ship ballistic missiles at the Sea Champion, a U.S.-owned bulk carrier. It said one of the missiles detonated near the ship causing minor damage.

The Sea Champion, which was ferrying corn from Argentina to Aden, the seat of Yemen's internationally recognised government, was attacked twice on Monday, with a window damaged but no crew injuries, Greek shipping ministry sources said.

The U.S. Central Command said the Sea Champion has delivered humanitarian aid to Yemen 11 times in the past five years.😳

A port source in Aden and a separate shipping source said the vessel was unloading part of its cargo of some 9,229 tonnes of corn in Aden, before it heads to the northern Yemeni port of Hodeidah, an area controlled by the Houthis, where it was meant to discharge the remaining load of some 31,000 tonnes. Houthis Hit Chinese Ship With Missile in the Red Sea | China In Focus

The Yemen-based Houthi terrorist group makes its first attack on a Chinese-owned ship—twice, with five missiles. This comes after the Houthis reportedly promised Russia and China safe passage through the Red Sea. Grocery shoppers in New York, Pennsylvania, and Oklahoma might want to pay extra attention next time they're in the seafood section. A Chinese fish product appears to have made its way onto shelves without import permission. A federal agency sends out a warning. From Intel to AMD, China is blocking the use of American computer chips. We have more on Chinese Communist Party guidelines being issued to its agencies. Rumors surrounding Kate Middleton's cancer diagnosis are trending. UK officials warn that foreign actors like China and Russia are behind a new disinformation campaign.

The Houthi’s aren’t trying to win friends and influence people are they? Iran by proxy is in the same boat that I’m expecting, eventually, will have missiles fired back at it? Interesting lack of discrimination with targets….

I imagine they're pretty popular in some circles.

Even the Navy likes 'em. They give the rustpickers live-fire practice.

Onboard Royal Navy destroyer HMS Diamond as she faces Houthi attacks.

The main Palestinian faction in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday accused Iran of trying to spread chaos in its territory and said it would oppose operations from outside that had nothing to do with the Palestinian cause.

Fatah, the movement that controls the Palestinian Authority, said it would not allow "our sacred cause and the blood of our people to be exploited" and said it would act against any interference from outside aimed at harming security forces or national institutions.

Israel has long accused Iran of helping Palestinian armed groups including Hamas, the Islamist group in Gaza which led the Oct. 7 attack on Israel, and which has become more deeply entrenched in the West Bank over recent years.

Last month, the Israeli military said security forces had stopped advanced weapons including anti tank mines from being smuggled into the West Bank.

In the past, Iran has not denied providing support to the armed groups, saying whatever backing it gives is at the request of the Palestinians.

After bombing 3 Iranian generals on Iranian soil Iran It's a wonder why this is escalating.

Just wait until Hezbollah starts launching 500 rockets a day. Whose fault will that be?

Thought those guys were in Syria. Was it in an embassy or something in Syria making it Iranian territory?

Thought the pic showed a building between the two that got hit.
Yeah 3 embassies in a row. That's the same as hitting Tehran. Do you want your grandkids to fight Bibi's Israel ending war? 6 months and still can't even beat the equivalent of a 1980s biker gang.
