Ritter is the latest of a rash of credible people both inside and outside of government to voice concerns that a staged terror attack blamed on Iran or Syria could be used as the pretext to instigate pre-planned invasions and further entrench a police state in the US.

http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/october2005/241005weaponsinspector.htm Staged Terror

There is the possibility of the Bush administration staging a terror attack in order to jolt a wavering foreign policy agenda back on track.

Ritter noted that during the time of Watergate, Nixon considered utilizing America's nuclear arsenal to create a devastating diversion from domestic calamity.

K - Holy Fug. I didn't khear that before, about Nixon and Nukes.

But I did know about staged attacks - 9-11 seems staged, and the Tonkin Valley incident that started the Vietnam war, and of course Pearl Harbour are all examples of staged attacks to gain support for going to war.

PS -
These Pres.of the USA types sure get nuts. Long before they become Pres, they are fully indoctrinated behind the scenes. I doubt if any of their thoughts are their own once they reach office.
Powerful groups like Bilderbergers are the ones making the policy... and selecting the next President of the USA too!!

You knew about the Tonkin "VALLEY" Incident did you?

I would like to hear what you know about what happened in that valley to start the Vietnam War.

Don't look it up... tells us what you know.

It ought to be interesting. <smile>

Answer - Some enjoy the tapestry. Others just want to pull at the loose thread.

I am often suprised how many people gravitate to the 'big lie' when the truth is out there. Similar to the many visits of Cheney to the intelligence sector to pressure for information in support of an invasion, Johnston was activily engaged in setting up an incident to validate a police action in Viet Nam.

Look into the history of expansion into the Black Hills or Texas, or Hawaii. America has always been an imperialist power seeking the flimsiest of excuses for their actions so their people can swallow the lies justifying the action.

The U.S. now has a huge force within striking distance of some of its (read Israel's) enemies. There is great pressure to shift the balance in the Middle East with a little more 'shock and awe'. They wouldn't have to occupy Syria (or Iran), just set its development back and ruin its infrastructure as in Iraq. The oil reserves in Iraq will serve their immediate needs.

Give it up, Eagletroll. We all know what happened and you trying to nitpick your way out of it is just another attempt at covering your own ass. You started a war because your president lied and you got your asses kicked. Now you've started another war because your president lied and you are getting your asses kicked again.

When do the choppers evacuate from the rooftops in the Green Zone, Eagletroll? Are you going to leave your helpers behind to be murdered again? Are Bush and his boys going to be as afraid to stand trial for their crimes as Kissinger is for his?

Nitpick? I was just surprised that our Navy destroyers could move that far inland. I know the US has the best navy in the world but I did not know that our destroyers could cross the beach and move into a valley in NV. I wanted to hear what the original poster "knew" about what happened in the Tonkin Valley.

At least we made an attempt to evacuate and save lives over there. Whereas your country sat by and watched genocide take place.

You won't be seeing any Vietnam type evacuation this time and you know it.

You keep mentioning Canada and Rawanda all the time, but yet you refuse to acknowledge all the crimes against humanity your government is responsible for in all corners of the planet.

That's because he helped to commit those crimes. He's afraid that if justice is served he'll end up in prison.

Well we won every war except one... and the one we lost sure wasn't the War of 1812! That is one of my favorites.

So before you starting dogging the US Military... trying dogging the hatches of your remaining submarines while they are in open seas!

That was a beuatiful one.

You lost Vietnam. You basically lost Korea and with you almighty army. You are well on your way to losing Iraq. (and even will be run out of or just leave Afghanistan) You guys will just up and leave one day. Yes America has air and naval power but hell your ground forces are no better than anyone elses. You can not fight jungle or "illegal invasions" that take place in cities.

You guys did not win 1812 either. Yet another lie taught in Americas "we are the best" schools. Washington DC burnt down, you guys wanted 54th parallel. The problem is Americans can not admit defeat or that they are second best.

The invasion was illegal. It is illegal to follow an illegal order. You are a war criminal.

Well we won every war except one... and the one we lost sure wasn't the War of 1812!

You got your asses kicked in the War of 1812. There are still burn marks on the White House. Learn history.

So before you starting dogging the US Military... trying dogging the hatches of your remaining submarines while they are in open seas!

That was brutally uncalled for, Eagleschmuck. Idiot.

OK, so you are sceptical that I have a clue. This doesn't really prove it or not, I read about Tonkin Valley and used it for this Staged Terror post-
EagleSmack - do you believe there have been Staged Terror attacks , ever?

here we go:
Tonkin Valley, off the top of my head now, was about an American warboat being blowed up by "someone". Media reported it at the time as Commies attacking USA boats, but now we figger it to be the USA themselves, a staged Terror attack.\
I don't know why they called it Valley, it was on the oceans off Vietnam. I can show you the article if I can find it again...

-was I even close Eagle? [not that it would mean anything]

Okay Eagleboy, so it was the Gulf of Tonkin incident, not the Tonkin Valley incident. Wrong name, but he's got the basics of it right. You did not win the War of 1812 either. America achieved none of its war aims and was badly humiliated at least twice I can recall without having to look anything up, losing an army at Detroit and Queenston Heights, thanks to bad preparation and poor leadership. By even the most optimistic view, the best anyone could say on America's behalf about the War of 1812 is that it was a stalemate. It was just a skirmish on the fringes of the Napoleonic Wars in Europe anyway, and not of much significance in the larger scheme of things. Learn some real history, not the blinkered view of the world Americans are taught.

Back to the OP: I think Syria's a better bet than Iran. Iran's difficult territory for America to invade, for a variety of geographic and logistical reasons. Iraq was easy: a nice place to land seaborne forces, and a straight run across relatively flat terrain to the capital. Iran's not like that. Iran also has a professional and apparently fairly competent military force itself.

There's a built-in staging base right next door for a Syrian invasion though. Much easier.

Answer - yeah. You did take part in a crime against the Panamanians. you took part in the murdering of up to 10,000 people so that the american people would not learn that the President had broken the law in his dealing in drugs and arms to support a fascist military against the popular usurpation of a despot in Nicaragua. Can you not tell when something is wrong? Just following orders? That is no defence for killing civilians.

You are correct Dexter ... in that Syria will most likely be next.

Here's one of my past posts from this forum (sometime last month). See the "the Syria Equation" thread .....

Mark my words, Syria will be next. It's not a question of if, but when. Our global war on terrorism has no borders. The Syrian government is both supporting and harboring the terrorist insurgents that are entering Iraq from Syria.

We already know Syria was heavily involved with terrorism before the global war on terrorism started. Syria provides support to Hamas, a known terrorist organization and lets Hamas members roam freely to go about their operations without arresting the individuals involved. If the Syrian government was truly interested in fighting terrorism, it would tear down the operational headquarters Hamas has in Damascus.

At this stage I am predicting that it is more than likely that we will go after Syria. It's bad enough that we have Al Qaeda roaming about, but state sponsored terrorism is completey unacceptable. We need to continuously enforce a zero tolerance policy towards terrorism.

In addition, a United Nations report has recently accused a senior Syrian intelligence Officer of being behind the assasination of Rafik Hariri, Lebanon's former Prime Minister. Looks like Bashar al-Assad is a chip off the old block. Like father like son. It appears terrorism is deeply rooted within the Assad family.

RE: Iran or Syria next fo

You've never provided any proof that Syria is supporting terrorists though, James. The US has been whining that foreign fighters are coming over the borders, but it's only natural to give your relatives a hand when they are trying to fight off an occupying army.

Besides if the mighty US government can't stop people from crossing the border into Iraq there, how the hell are the Syrians supposed to do it? They don't have the satellites, they fancy equipment, or the manpower that the US does.
