Got something that seems to me unexplainable...my ipod is a second generation with version 4.2.1 software update.
Last night I downloaded an app just to try it that would give me the local temperature as well as the coordinates of my position..figuring that the second generation doesn't contain a GPS chip...
Well this morning, I'm in the local park by the river and accessing a free wifi supplied by the telephone company..(The antena is about 1/2 mile away in a tower) and I'm getting my exact position almost on the Ipod app. and also on the "Maps" app.
I was getting only one other wifi (locked) in range at the time so it couldn't have been triangulating my position using known wifi positions???????
Is it posible that the last update activated a GPS chip that nobody knew about?
I think I'm gonna have to get with it and buy an IPhone:lol:
