this whole thread reads like you've forgotten that humanity IS part of the enviroment, part of the world, not just observers to it. We are animals driven to breed, consume, and thrive. We are one of the single greatest success stories of evolution, adaptation. And like any ecosystem, one successful species is enough to lower biodiversity and has an impact on the land around it. Loathing animals for doing what animals do makes no sense.
We will continue down this road, because it is a comfortable, easy road (as evidenced by your electricity, access to a computer and the internet, access to education, and presumably to health care and food) until environmental pressures prove it's a hinderance to our survival. And then we'll do like all animals, and either adapt or die.
