In UN-world, North Korea looks great. Especially compared to Canada

The politicization of the UN doesn't bother me as much as its anti-democratic structure bothers me. It is after all a political body.

Your right... Regrettably, when it comes to the UN, my thoughts are that it acts as an a-political entity to maintain an objective perspective.

.. And yes, I do realize that I am living in a fantasy world relative to the above

The OP is not so much about bashing North Korea as much as it is about the sheer stupidity, duplicity and politicization that the UN represents.

So if North Korea's health care system surpasses that of some other developing countries, the UN shoud lie and say that it isn't or just shup up, but is not allowed to tell the truth about North Korea unless it's bad?

Did I get that right?

From what I recall in the posts so far (to the OP), no one was ganging-up on N Korea.

If the UN feels that there healthcare system is great, I'm glad... Maybe now that the UN has addressed this wonderful accomplishment in N Korea, they can take a look at the food security issue there.

Are you willing to give odds on the UN issuing a press release akin to what Canada got on the N Korean situation?

Yeah, I wouldn't give odds on that either

Yep. Like a shaky Kevin Trudeau ad or a snake-oil TV drug sales pitch.

The U.N.: Your results may vary. Use as directed.

That's hardly a shocker. By and large whatever happens in NK is a direct result of gov't directive. Like as in "You there, you will be a physician or else ......", "We have a round-eye journalist coming to visit. Everything will be perfect or else ....", etc. etc.
Something about books and their covers and appearances. And the UN just sucks it up.

How they take care of it? By distinguishing unemployment insurance and welfare it seems. Every person is guaranteed some meager amount of money a month. Even if they have been out of work for decades.

After a few months of unemployment, where the unemployment agency is actively getting you interviews, they will start to give you interviews for jobs beneath your qualifications. As you refuse more and more of these offers, they decrease the amount of the employment insurance payment and lower the bar you for the interviews they send you to. Eventually you wind up on welfare.

On welfare, they pay for your apartment directly and give a few hundred euro for food a month, while continuing to send you interviews. It is barely enough to live on. There are a bunch of other conditions as well related to moving and such.

I am guessing that there is just as much homelessness in major European cities as in Canada-and that Europeans have perfected the ability to keep them away from easily offended tourists! And is it possible that Europeans LOCK UP crazy people more often than we do and wont let them live and freeze and defecate on the pretty streets-so popular with tourists?

WE have many homeless here because LIE-berals gave them their full civil rights-to wander the streets freely with NO need to accept medical treatment that would cure them of mental illness! It is common knowledge that anti schizophrenia drugs have ugly side effects that lure recipients away from regular treatment and insure regular bizarre behaviour.

There are cultural ghettos throughout Europe. Strangely, in Berlin everybody wants to live in the Turkish districts, maybe because they are more lively? There are similar things that occur in the suburbs of Paris.

Because the government is usually willing to pay for your rent for whatever apartment you are living in, so long as you don't move (then they force you to take public apartments), they seem to be able to stave off these problems.

In general, unemployment will not destroy your family, just your pride. Most people would prefer gainful employment.

That`s odd-TVO recently played a documentary about life in a heavily Muslim area of Paris and interviewed woman who complained about Muslim harassment because she was a LONE female out in public without a male escort and thus a SLUT!
That Paris woman and her Dutch counterparts DO NOT consider the Turkish or Muslim ghettos to be "lively" and would MOVE OUT immediately if they could find anyplace else to go!
