I'm really sorry that Bush "won."

I really don't believe we had a fair election down here.

We aren't all insane.

What country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time that its people preserve the spirit of resistance.

-- Thomas Jefferson

We will continue to resist. Don't give up on us!

Meanwhile, you can visit my Anti-Bush protest site. It will stay up for the next four years.

RE: I

Hey thanks, you have some good stuff on your site.

I just read that something like 82% of Seattle people voted against Bush. That is good news. Seattle should become part of Canada.

PS I think your post belongs elsewhere, maybe in International Politics.

What is with Alberta and other Canadians? :)

Alberta is a hotbed for conservatives and a minority of Albertans want to be part of the United States and/or integrate much more with Americans.. Their culture is the most American-style in Canada. :(

Although they also contain the biggest oil industry in Canada -- what a coincidence.

I don't know for sure Rick, but I'd imagine it has something to do with Alberta's oil industries` connection to their southern neighbours.

One coworker of mine has a daughter working for some oil company in Alberta and his wife has a sibling who works for the US consulate in Edmunton. Last year, I vacationed in Quebec and he vacationed in Alberta and we both came back with reports on two completely different worlds.

A lot of Alberta was settled by Americans, it was the last place the Mounties ran the whiskey-runners out of, it was a have-not province until the LeDuc oil strike, it is heavily influenced by US oil companies, it has a lot of Americans living there.

Those are all of the reasons I have to explain why Alberta is such a weird province. Oh...I forgot...barefaced greed.

Whoa Rev be nice {you know me from another site {blubs} I am using my cb handle on this site ] which I discovered a few weeks back I like it .
Anyways not alll us Albertans are greedy . I spent all day yesterday putting up liberal signs in my riding sad to say it wont do a hell of a lotta good . Albertans have voted PC for so long they pretty much have it ingrained in them that is the way to vote . Which I can't fathom because some of them don't like KIng Ralph one bit . And lets face it some of them have real redneck views . Jut the other day Ralph said no one tells him what to do . Not too long ago he was heckeld by two handicap ladies and he had the nerve to tell them they don't look handicapp . What the hell is a handicap person suppose to look like ? Not mention the fact that yrs ago when mayor of Calgary he said "let the Eastern bastards freeze" . Wait there's more he also said when he Was still mayor of "Cowtown" that the majority of people in the jail there were easterners . Dosen't that just make a dandy relationship between the eastern Canada and the west. .
I do admit I find the quebec government just a tad annoying tho.

RE: I'm really sorry that

I know it isn't all Albertans, Double 2. I know a few NDPers out there...one of them even ran in the last federal election. The fact remains that it is the most conservative province though, and the most Americanised.

A lot of us other westerners are getting increasingly fed up with Alberta. It's always "western separatism" and "western alienation". Funny, but I was born and raised in Saskatchewan and have lived in the west for all but three years of my life and I don't don't feel alienated and I don't want to separate. It's "western" nothing, what it is, is Alberta oil patch alienation and Alberta oil patch separatism.

We get tired of being lumped in with Alberta as part of the west. Every other western province has a history of electing the NDP for a couple of terms, then the conservatives under whatever name they go by. Our leaders don't make fun of the handicapped or talk about building walls around our provinces.

I agree with everything you said Rev . Alberta does make it bad for Manitoba and Saskatchewan . In a way I wish we were like those two provinces . But what can you do when you have such a friggin dilhole
for a premier . In all honesty Albertans are so narrow minded in their way of thinking that they can't see the forest for the trees .
Ralph seems to think the west starts at the SASK . border and ends at the BC border . You are right it is pure and simple greed . Did you know our minimun wage is only $ 5.90 per hr how the hell can a young person live on 5.90 it's a friggin mess in this place . Now Ralph says he doesn't care one way or the other about health care . This guy is a total idiot . I was looking up hate groups in AB trying to find any mention of him . Found a number of mentions about Stockwell Day tho .
I guess what I am saying is there are some of us here ,tho not many would love to see him knocked down a few pegs . I love the west and I love Alberta you could call me a "liberal cowboy " . I guess
God could imagine if he ran in the federal election and won . He and Tony Blair would be fighting to see who blows Bush fiirst .
