The Seal Hunt realy pisses me off. The reason our fishery is in such a bad shape is over-fishing, and polution. But they blame the seal population and want to bash there heads in and skin them alive. Nature has always worked itself out, it doesn't need us screwing around with it.
When I hear of animal cuelty I get pissed off. Psychopaths start off torturing animals and then progress to people. We need tough laws to protect animals and wild life.

Again, this is a case of people having interfered in the natural process in the first place. These seals, which you are opposed to killing, are overpopulating their area, as a result of the fact that their natural predators have been driven from the area by human encroachment. This overpopulation results in a depletion of the fish stocks as well, since this is their primary food source (exacerbated by human overfishing). A final result of the seal overpopulation would be widespread starvation of the seals, with dead seal carcasses washing up on beaches all through the Gulf of St Lawrence and East Coast. The unfortunate truth is that in order to prevent the widespread starvation we now need to intervene and cull the herds. Contrary to its appearance, the seal harvest, as it is conducted now, is one of the most humane and efficient ways to do this

Actually. Rabbits with no natural predators succumb to a specific disease and die when their numbers become to large for their area.

Maybe Victoria could import some of our Coyotes? Like the ones around Stanley Park....many people have fed those ones in the past so their quite "tame". what a blast that'd be.

Coyotes strolling down Gov't street.......Use to be prostitutes but coyotes are much more pleasant on the tourists eyes......
They can roam around by the museum like a living exhibit....then have tea at the hotel...........

lol, you ppl are funny

rabbits aren't anymore cute and cuddly than rats. . .if they are, then thats a matter of personal opinion. Either way, it is not a reason for not killing one, especially if you're going to eat it. I suppose you think that the meat you eat for lunch commited suicide?

I'd like to see year round hunting of seagulls and pigeonsmade legal-dirty,filthy things!

~ Poached Seagull ~

1 medium whole bird
1 large rock

Place both in large uncovered saucepan. Fill saucepan with cold water.
Bring to boil over outdoor fire. Bury the seagull. Enjoy the rock.

But if you're really serious missle, here you go:

Michelmas Gulls

Stuff the bodies of the birds well with sage and onion, then tie the ends of the legs together. Cover the birds with fat and roast slowly at 150-170 ºC - Gas 2-3, allowing 12 mins per lb per bird. After half the cooking time, baste well, then dredge over the whole bodies with seasoned flour. Put back into the oven, basting again at 10 minute intervals and then dredging.
When the birds are done, pour the fat out of the tin except for a spoonful, stir in a little flour and then half a pint of good stock made up from the giblets and salt and pepper to taste. Boil this up, letting it thicken well. Serve the gulls with this gravy, apple sauce and creamed potatoes. :pukeright:

Boil it (head and all)
