Television personality and member of CP24 Breakfast Mika Midolo announced Thursday she has lymphoma.

She appeared on the breakfast show in good spirits and wearing a head scarf to talk about her battle with blood cancer.

Midolo was diagnosed in May and has been away from the show since June.

“I’ve had the fight of my life and the shock of my life for the last few months. I can promise you right now this is going to be great. I am fighting and I’m going to get through this,” Midolo said

She said she is in a good place, is doing her chemo treatments and has the best oncology team at Markham Stouffville Hospital.

Midolo said she was frustrated and scared and felt alone at first and said the treatments are hard.

“It is tough. It hurts. No one knows inside how much it hurts inside because everyone is like, ‘Oh you look great’ but I don’t feel great inside, but I know I’m going to be great so I have to keep that positivity in my mind and knowing that I am going to be fine,” she said.

What is keeping her optimistic, however, are her family and friends and all the support and resources she has found and received.

She praised Lymphoma Canada and pointed out the fundraising they are doing as September is Lymphoma Awareness Month.

Midolo said she has more treatments coming over the next couple of months.

“I will be back soon … I’m going to fight and keep on fighting,” she said.
