in a biology class i took a few years ago, this is what my professor had to say.
the world can sustain 12 billion people. that's it. we're over 6 billion right now.
fresh water is drying up and disappearing. 'they' figure that the next world war...world war III will be over fresh water.
makes a scary picture doesn't it?
the only land type growing right now is desert. we are suffering dessertifation (i think i made that word up, but you catch my drift) that is growing each year. california, literally loses acreage of fertile land each year to dessertification.
you cannot simply grow more food. wouldn't that be lovely though?
earth facts are scary. but putting our head in the sand about them, is scarier.
