The only slow drivers I ever see are those in the really senior category, and they just drive so slow because they cannot see over the dashboard.

RE: How fast do you think

You don't see cars like that Charger anymore, really. It was as fast as most Jags and so on of the day, but the suspension and handling were basically as nimble the average truck. I don't think that one even had shoulder belts, just lap belts so your body could act like a lever as your head slammed into the bash or steering wheel.

We had some incredibly fast cars over here that were cheap enough that average young people could buy them new, Emma. They were basically built to run 1/4 mile in a straight line.

By the time my friends and I were buying our first cars the really fast ones like my friend's were already becoming collectible, but the ones that would only go 120 MPH could be bought for $400 or $500...about the size of a paycheque from a summer job.

In victoria there are alot of seniors, its retirement heaven. Some of the driving stories are unbelievable. Just a few months ago at the at the plaza up the road, a senior got into her car to drive away and instead of putting the car in reverse, she put it in drive and stepped on the gas. She landed inside the lottery store 8O Seriously, she went right through the front of the store and the car was inside the store, just the tail end sticking out....good thing no one was at the counter...

Hey this is kind of strange...but have you ever noticed when you pull up to light, if the person's car next to you moves in anyway, it feels like your car is moving :p its weird, you put on the brakes, but you are not moving.

Well the official speed limit is 70mph- but no one really ever sticks to it.
70 mph. That is 112 km/h. 80 mph is 128 km/h (to go back to your first post). Well I don't think that's really fast. I mean, in the Netherlands, the official speed limit on highways is 120 km/h (although there are also people driving faster, and nobody seems to care really). So from that point of view (and to go back to the initial discussion): no, I don't think 80mph is really fast. I'm taking driving lessons at the moment and I have already driven 80 mph on the highways so ...

Yuh know;

In the 70's I was buying my hash from a dealer who was about 60 years old.
Whenever I asked for credit .... He would say ....
Because of my age, I'd rather have you chasing me and not me chasing you!

I knew right there how fast "fast" was.

It is true that if you drive at the speed limit in Europe, on a highway, you might provoke some serious road rage for blocking the traffic.

What I don't understand is why they keep making cars that can go so much faster then any speed limit, and why they have those limits and then not enforce them.

Consider this- my work car only has a 1.4 litre diesel engine and the speedo goes up to 160mph!! I think Europeans are so much better at tuning engines because our fuel is so expensive- we want to have economical cars that go fast!!
