Why would you say that Taxslave? I'm not afraid to try lots of new things. Besides - don't you follow tradition at times like Christmas? There is a difference between doing things the traditional way and in following tradition. I liked the tradition of celebrating Christmas the way my folks did. We, as a family have not done that for some years. We have however, lost an addition to our family that put a downer on every Christmas and now we feel free to go ahead and celebrate the way we are used to. This past Christmas was not the greatest example of doing that but we feel well on our way to next year if things go as we hope they will. It's not tradition to go camping and sit around a camp fire singing songs and some members of the family playing guitars. However, it is something that we enjoy and that draws us together as a family. That same person took every opportunity to mock us for doing just that to the point where it wasn't much fun anymore. She left and we are slowly moving back to things that are traditional - to a point, for our family. Those are things I did with my family while growing up and things my husband did with his. Then we moved on to doing them with our sons who are both very musically inclined. Some people might call that a tradition. We just call it making fond memories. I have very fond memories of sitting around singing old songs with my family. Not one of us could sing at all but we had fun just the same. My husband is a great singer and a not too bad guitar player. One son is a very good guitar player (took lessons) and the other is a very good drummer. Both of them got their Dad's voice and they sing very well. Tradition or just plain old family fun - we enjoy it. It's fun to go back to your "roots" now and then.Traditions are for people that are too lazy to try anything new.
I don't think you are talking about tradition. You are just talking about being in a rut.
