Perhaps we could start making them available at Walmarts around the globe. Sales and distribution would increase markedly.

Canada should have two classes of Passports, one for those born as Canadians and another for those who immigrated to Canada to take advantage of the hard work of those born here.

Well, the back half should be full of tear-out coupons for, say, Free Selfie with the PM or Verbal Abuse from a Vieux Montreal Waiter, two-for-one deal on poutine in Gatineau, 30% off Spandex in Kitsilano ... that sort of thing.

You forgot the $5 gift card from Tim Hortons.

'Arton Capital managing director May says he expects two sets of independent nations to continue improving their passport strength: "Small nations who are no threat to anyone as well as smart and open-minded nations, especially when there is a strong rule of law."'

I don't agree with you often, but I actually could see a benefit to a two-passport system.

One weakness of a national passport is that it really doesn't reveal much more than in what country you popped out of your mother's belly or naturalized. A language passport would be more valuable since you would actually have to pass a language test to acquire it. For example, I could imagine Canada allowing a citizen to choose between a Canadian passport, an English-language passport, or a French-language passport. Canadian citizenship alone would suffice to acquire the Canadian passport, but one would need to pass a high-level language test to acquire the language passport. We could even add practical cultural knowledge to the test too. That way, any border agent in any country that sees a language passport would know that its owner actually knows the language of the passport along with other practical knowledge.

Sorry Durry, I guess the test would shut the door on your chance to acquire a language passport. But no worries, you could still acquire a Canadian passport. After all, you popped out of your mother's womb in Canada, right.

Toughening our laws on narcotics, etc. could help too as a way to gain trust in the Canadian passport. If the world thinks we're potheads, it'll be a little more difficult for it to respect our passport.

I don't understand why you think our passport needs more promoting. At 158 we're 3 points behind the leader Germany. That's pretty good. And why should we emulate Singapore? Finland for example is in the same category and they got there without violating free speech or excessively using the death penalty.

You admire the wrong government in my opinion.

Singapore, in spite of its geographical size, is actually quite ethnically diverse and finds itself smack in the middle of the Golden Triangle. Yet, it manages to maintain law and order and social harmony between the different groups and has successfuly kep the drug trade very much under control. Sure it has a drug problem, but it's quire minor. And that's saying a lot for a country smack in the middle of the Golden Triangle.

If Canada were in the same location, we'd probably be drug-infested in no time given how we mollycoddle criminals here.

Singaporeans are mainly Chinese who are more westernized than those from mainland China.

Boring group but mostly law abiding.

Yeah, but they have some stupid laws, like you can't chew gum in public.
If you stay in a hotel there, you will often get calls from call girls, so pretty western I'd say.

Do you like paying taxes? Banning chewing gum saves the government money on paying cleaners to scrape gum off of public property. Take your pick: raise taxes, or ban chewing gum?

On the matter of call girls in Singapore, I don't know how common it is but I do know that buying sex is technically legal. Singapore could learn from Canada by criminalizing the buying of sex.
