Please disregard previous message:

New issue we get is this:
We set
static IP to 192.168.1.10
Forwarding ports listed above to 192.168.1.10

We get connect fine, and other side hears us, but we cannot hear them when they try to talk to US on msn,
Any advice on THIS particular problem?

I'm still stuck on this!

Getting totally confused with which IP numbers to allocate. Followed what I thought was the right instructions and lost the network so had to reset to defaults.

Hi, I am having the same problem with Web Cam and voice. I heard that you can do it if you have a static IP and allow DMZ hosting for this problem. I did that, but it still doesn't work all the time. I've still got it set to DMZ hosting and have also taken tips on the forwarding like suggested in this forum. Is it ok to allow these forwarding ports to be open and run DMZ at the same time?

Oh also, I noticed someone here said they were able to connect but the voice breaks up. I was told to unintsall QOS. Go to your network connection and click on propertys. Find QOS and uninstall it. I found this solved the voice breaking up problem.

Thanks.

Excuse me if im wrong but the settings will need to be the same from both parties, ie sam static ip and the network part of the ip will need 2 be the same (the network part is the 1st 3 octlets, eg 192.168.0.)and the host computer will have to be 1, you should also check that the router, webcam and mic are compatible with this type of connection

eg
set one computer (host) to

Static IP: 192.168.0.1
Default Gatway: 255.255.255.0

and the other one 2

Static IP: 192.168.0.2
Default Gatway: 255.255.255.0

RE: How 2 get webcam to w

Hi moghrabi,
My name is Daniel and i would appreciate any help at all.
I own a linksys wag54g (version 2) home network router and no matter what i do (which is probably all wrong anyway) I cannot connect to the MSN Messenger service using the actual downloaded program. But however, i can use the online web messenger and other IM services like for example 'www.iloveim.com'. Please could you help me sort out this problem so that i can use MSN Messenger as a program. Thanks

P.S - I used to be able to use MSN messenger before we purchased the 'Linksys WAG54G V.2' Home router but since we have had it i have been unable to connect to the service.

Hi
I am also having difficulty using a webcam with msn messenger also. I am using a BT Voyager 205 ADSL Router (UK) with BTYahoo Boradband. I have tried following the instructions above but to get to the advanced page I have to enter my username and password, but they are declined. Do I need a special username and password to be able to access this>

Hi there, I'm having the same problem, running the Linksys router with a Logitech webcam. When I try to initiate video conversation, my picture doesn't load at the other persons end, and sometimes his doesn't load at my end. Now on the main computer, using a different webcam we have no problem. I am running Windows 98 with Msn Messenger 7.0 on the computer I am having a problem with. Is it my end or his or both. Desperated to fix the problem

hi - i know every1 has asked this question but this one slightly differs:

in the fact that i'm at university and have to request ports to be open because we are not allowed routers so do i just request that 6091 so i can enable the msn webcam? in the tcp and udp format? can u use sound over msn too - if so how and what ports need to be opened?
