Like I said, they can do whatever they want - I honestly couldn't give a rats a$$ if the erect a statue or not... Regrettably for them, they will have to convince their local community to get on board if they want to do it on public property.

They (and everyone else) have the option of minding their own fukking business on their own property on their own time.... Too bad more folks don't take this approach as opposed to pushing their fat head into everyone else's lives.

The discord, in my view, is represented by the conflict between the existing status of the community (affiliations, etc) and the interests of inclusion by other affiliations... That is not anything new, nor anything to get up-in-arms about.

That said, as the focal point of the proposal is on public lands, I believe that it simply makes sense to lobby 'the public' on the proposal.

Forcing 'inclusion' in this case does not make sense to me and again, in my opinion, engaging these proposals on public land/buildings, etc translates to interference (to use your word)

They aren't forcing anything. They applied to the government to have their religions represented on public land. The government has these procedures in place and they are using them.
