i get a kick out of an American accusing us of being unpatriotic! What part of Canadian Content doesn't he get  I would hope that every one of us here is unpatriotic towards the USA.

The links to terrorism are a joke. What, the FLQ? They've been disbanded for a long time, those that committed crimes did their time, and the separatist movement has long since become legitimate.

Disbanded? Rev, do you know what Raymond Villeneuve, terrorist and convicted murderer is up to these days? It sure isn't basket weaving.

It isn't blowing up mailboxes or leaving the corpses of cabinet ministers in car trunks, either.

Read this link Rev, particularly the last paragraph. Seems your buddy Raymond is affiliated with a new terrorist organiztion ...the QNLM. Once a terrorist, always a terrorist.

The QFL and Terrorism

By the way, here in the US, we know how to treat domestic terrorism ... the death penalty. Look at Timothy McVeigh.

I'm going to miss her on my tube. ;_;

Fellow Americans down south for the most part share my views, Splinters. We have zero tolernace for terrorism. Terrorists are the worst degenerates of society and need to be wiped off the face of the earth.

If we are gonna have a GG then we need to take the issue more seriously...... first off shoulden't he/she represent all Canadians, not just quebec? What does she mean to Western Canadians or Ontario for that matter?

Maybe someone who is not so contriversial I mean if there are all these ifs and buts about her then is she really the best person for the job?

I know you can never have 100% agreement across the nation, but since the GG represents all of Canada we should have someone who is more universally accepted.....not someone who is popular in one area but unpopular in another area! it just serves to a divider in the counrty.

...lastly we should not have this GG appointed to this position by a PM.......... this process should be done more democratically.

Has he committed any terrorist acts? No.

More importantly, are you saying that the Governor General's husband has been involved in any terrorist acts? We have laws against libel here, Nascar, so you'd better be able to prove that.

If we are gonna have a GG then we need to take the issue more seriously...... first off shoulden't he/she represent all Canadians, not just quebec? What does she mean to Western Canadians or Ontario for that matter?

She does represent all Canadians. I live in Manitoba and was raised in Saskatchewan. I lived in Edmonton and Ottawa for a few years each when I was a child. She represents me.

Yowling that a person that comes from Quebec can only represent Quebec is ridiculous and shallow. Every second GG is a francophone. That's tradition. You'll get a shot next time. Maybe it will even be somebody from Alberta. Should the rest of us whine that any GG from Alberta cannot and does not represent the rest of the country? Don't be silly.

Maybe someone who is not so contriversial I mean if there are all these ifs and buts about her then is she really the best person for the job?

The only controversy comes from spurious, misguided, and misleading attacks from radical right. She has excellent qualifications and will do an excellent job.

I know you can never have 100% agreement across the nation, but since the GG represents all of Canada we should have someone who is more universally accepted.....not someone who is popular in one area but unpopular in another area! it just serves to a divider in the counrty.

She is only unpopular in Alberta and that is only because those on the far right of the political spectrum have decided to try and start a scandal because they are too inept to actually deal with real issues.

...lastly we should not have this GG appointed to this position by a PM.......... this process should be done more democratically.

You want to elect somebody who rubber stamps things and acts as a PR person? The election would cost how many million? Why not get your Harperites elected (good luck with that) and then they can appoint who they want.

Clark Gable? That sissy? I'd much rather use John Wayne as a role model.

Yeah, because Tough John was so intelligent and thoughtful.

James, the cowboy mentality didn't even work in the old west. There were range wars and massacres and people murdered for the crime of raising sheep insetead of cattle. In the end the people demanded that even the lawmen be beholden to the law.

I agree that movies are entertaining, but if you want to base your worldview on fiction, why not pick fiction that has some thought and intelligence behind it?

Rev, you should watch "Open Range", one of the best movies I ever saw. You will truly appreciate the old west after this one. Two notable "Republican" actors in this movie ... Robert Duvall and Kevin Costner.

Yep. I am "originally" from Montreal. However, society in Montreal (birth city) was too far left so I came to my senses and moved to the southern US with my wife & family. This is God loving country and in my city alone, over 80% of us attend church weekly.

Italian? They are nice folks. Remeber, Rudy supported the President throughout the war on terror.

We had a few Italian neigbors in the West Island. Not many though.

So Splinters, are you calling William Shatner a jerk? He's also originally from Montreal as well and now living in the US.

That's not very polite on your part.

RE: Her Excellency the Ri

I've seen Open Range NASCAR. It's not bad. Certainly no Wild Bunch, but not bad. I like westerns, James, but they glorify a way of life that was far more brutal than they depict and never show the failure of that way of life.
