Help with installing Rogers Hi-Speed

Hi all, I have installed rogers hispeed on my computer and it's not working, in right bottom corner where my icons are it shows a connection but the speed is 10kbps and the internet doesnt work, did i do something wrong when installnig it? what can i do to fix it.

Check your firewall. Maybe you have HTTP- World Wide Web or HTTPS- World Wide Web over SSL blocked? Thats what mine say in my "Guarddog Firewall"

What O/S do you have? What Firewall? Most O/S it should just hook up when you hook up modem to computer. I know Linux does and many moons ago when I had Windows XP it did the same.

no firewall just a fresh copy of windows xp. could it be my onboard lan card?
