Bank of Canada may hike interest rate for 1st time in 7 years next week - Business - CBC News

With all of that borrowing and spending, it looks like rates will now need to go up.

If Canada were smart, we'd profit from the economic growth south of the border by raising taxes, reducing government spending, or a combination of the two (preferably with a focus on reducing spending).

Though such an austerity policy could slow down the Canadian economy, growth south of the border would help to prop it up somewhat.

It would beneft the US economy too. Reduced growth in Canada would also prevent overheating in the US market too.
