Even the Conservative Party, contrary to popular belief, would need to tie up a considerable amount of funding in the beaurocratic process. They have not governed in quite some time — they may not completely realize what the process of governance requires. As for unnecessary programs, wouldn't the termination of each program require some sort of legislative measure? That would be dragged kicking and screaming, especially if a social program in question, through the House of Commons; a Liberal Opposition, backed likely by the NDP and Bloc, would oppose any such measure, in my opinion.

"I also cannot support a program that takes kids and literally tries to indoctirinate them from cradle to grave"

then you should look very carefully at society at large, since the efforts to indoctorinate from cradle to grave are omnipresent.

Look at the indoctorination in education, in religion, in politics, in business. Very few become free thinkers.

exactaly...which is why we want to avoid another Liberal day care idea.

The Liberal program does nothing for rural people, or people in small communities. Do you think that the govt is going to set up a 'Kids 'R Us" Daycare in downtown Smalltown, Sask? Hardly.

Surely you are not trying to tell me (us) that unionized impersonal daycare workers are better than most family members, dayhome providers, or stay at home moms? Surely you are not trying to tell me (us) that the no choice Liberal program is better than the choices model Harper has envisioned? Please tell me that you do not think the government knows better how to raise kids than the parents or family members of most families know?

the last thing we need is another Liberal social program......lets fix health care before we do this.

really what is the liberal program going to do for people in small town Canada? The CPC plan should also encourage on-site daycare for workers which would be the best outcome.

In this we agree totally. HOWEVER, the major difference here is that the government is trying to FORCE parents to put their kids, who are too young to speak for themselves, into a state sanctioned and state regulated system. In education, there are choices between public and private, in religion, the only forcing done may be by the parents and there are many religous choices to be made. Business is something that deals with adults, and no one is forced to work somewhere, and politics, well hell, we in Alberta know far to well about having one political viewpoint forced upon us, now don't we!!!!

Given your examples, why would anyone agree with this indoctirination at the age of one or less? Surely we should be working to delay any indoctirination as long as possible, not start it earlier!
