Why not questions on the fly, an everyday event until judgment day. A few questions to the ones running from their opposition and a few from the informed viewers that are answered by all parties. In the normal way of doing things there are ads that take up a few hours for the event and the actual time spend is pennies on the dollar. Do it the face-book way and a reply could be made at 3PM or 3AM depending on the poster. Spontaneity is always more humerus so the changeover might be high before the finish line is reached.

Debates in 2011 had 3.85 million viewers, yet Ditchburn and T. Star claim 14 million!

well, if obvious liberal rag says so.

It was hard to count the Lieberals in that debate. They probably counted them 2 or 3 times as they were running to the TV to turn it off after watching Iggy. Or perhaps they were just using Lieberal math.

Mulcair won't take part in debates that don't include Harper

In a press release Friday afternoon, the NDP indicated that it will decide whether to participate in debates based on three criteria:

  • The host organization is credible and non-partisan
  • The proposed topics to be discussed are varied and relevant to a large number of Canadians; and
  • The Prime Minister and other political party leaders are invited and have agreed to participate.
The party also indicated that it will participate in an equal number of French and English debates.

As Harper has already indicated that he will not be participating in any debates organized by the broadcasters, this puts these debates themselves in jeopardy: Having just Liberal leader Justin Trudeau and Elizabeth May, and at the French-language debate, Bloc Quebecois leader Gilles Duceppe, doesn’t make for much of a discussion.
