It's up to Africans to believe in Jesus, the Easter Bunny or Leprachauns....and to take responsibility for that belief.
I've only been to one black African contry out of dozens but in Tanzania christianity as a belief system was minimal. The difference between Protestants and Catholics was just to do with who was running a school or church institutions. Only Muslims seemed to practice their religion but that's due to centuries of Arab rule and influence. The Christian institutions were the only semblance of efficiency at a bureaucratic level. There were East Indians who were the lifeblood to buy anything or get anything actually done like buying a ticket or getting a pair of shoes fixed and so on. When it came down to it, the Pope had no more influence than he does here where he's basically ignored.
