We all had high hopes the weirdness of 2020 would be behind us – but Kraft Heinz is doing it again with the launch of a limited-edition Candy KD, just in time for Valentine’s Day. Much like last year’s arrival of the bizarre limited-edition Pumpkin Spice Mac & Cheese, this new edition marries the company’s iconic cheesy taste with the sweetness of pink candy, which also colours the dish as well.

Social media has exploded with news of this latest dish, with furious tweets both for and against this pink wonder.

“Valentine’s Day might be the cheesiest day of the year and we wanted to join in the fun,” said Brian Neumann, senior brand manager for Kraft Heinz, in a recent media release. “By combining the colour and flavour of Valentine’s Day with our iconic one-of-a-kind cheesy taste, we’re excited to give Canadians a new way to show their love this year, with Candy KD.”

If you’re looking to purchase a box the regular shopping route, you’re out of luck. Canadians will have to follow Kraft Dinner on social media and CandyKD.ca for a chance to get their hands on some of the love. The company is looking for the best pick-up line, or love confession via a cheesy poem on social media, giving lucky recipients a chance to receive a kit in a candy-styled box that will include KD Original, a Candy KD Boost Pack, and a fork, of course.

Be warned, company officials are saying if Canadians show the limited-edition flavour enough love, the brand may even turn this romance holiday fling into a long-term relationship past Feb. 14.

Which leads one to ask: what’s being planned for Easter!
