Kaley Cuoco found herself under attack on Monday after critics barked at her for sharing a photo of her pet dogs sitting on an American flag.
The Big Bang Theory star wanted to show her patriotic pride on the Independence Day holiday by posting a seemingly-innocent picture of her three pets posing in bananas adorned with stars and stripes.
She captioned the Instagram.com image, “Thank you @the_pet_handler for taking care of the squad while im (sic) out of town! 4th of July pups!!!!!!!”
However, the picture quickly attracted attention for all the wrong reasons as detractors pointed out that two of the pooches were sitting on an American flag, which had been placed on the ground - an action critics deemed disrespectful.
The observation prompted mixed reactions from followers, with some defending the actress, noting the shot was likely taken by the pet sitter, while others blasted Kaley for failing to recognize the shot may cause offence.
One user scolded the actress in the comments section beside the image, writing, “Showing disrespect for the flag, it should never touch the ground, or let your pet stand on it!”, while another posted, “Shame on you, Kaley. You lost a fan.”
The 30-year-old has yet to speak out about the furor, but she has already taken action over the backlash, deleting the picture from her Instagram page on Tuesday.
Two other photos from her holiday getaway with boyfriend Karl Cook, remain on her site. One snap, featuring the couple wearing matching stars-and-stripes clothing, was captioned, “Happy birthday America!!!!! celebrating in style.”
