Hamas calls for the nuclear destruction of Israel

By MARGOT DUDKEVITCH

Details released by the Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) on Tuesday revealed that graphics appearing on the Hamas website call for the destruction of Israel in a nuclear holocaust.

On the website, a red Star of David is encased in a black rectangle which is then obliterated in a nuclear explosion.

Arabic words then appear saying "The Az A-Din Al Qassam website exclusively tells the whole story of the most elusive squad [to be uncovered] in the history of the Entity [Israel], in the city of Ramallah." Every few seconds there are repeated images of a nuclear explosion destroying the Star of David.

In an undated interview on the website posted after the recent Palestinian legislative elections, the Hamas military wing vows to continue its resistance. "As long as there is occupation, there will be resistance," the statement says.

"My beloved, my mother, dearest to me most
Be joyous over my blood and do not cry for me"

*sighs* I'll have to check this one out and read it myself. Is it a radical sect of Hamas or is it the main political body?

Things look like it might be heating up in the middle east, it's too bad for Hamas it might be there own stupidity which "heats" up there H.Q.'s

I wonder how Isreal will respond to this.

I have not checked into this article on my own as of yet.

Nonetheless, in the event that this is not some radical branch of the party, and is in fact the Hamas Government of Palestine, then I would argue that Canada should take immediate action to prevent such an assertion from becoming anything more than just words.

I would maintain that Canada should invite delegates from the Hamas Government to an Interparliamentary Committee on the Relationship Between Palestine and Israel; even if we are not going to change their minds, we need to ensure that they are aware of Canada's position on this issue (which should be that Canada would withdraw any support whatsoever for a Government with destruction-oriented endeavours).

Perhaps we can talk some sense into these people — we should at least try.

If talks go smoothly, we could invite delegates from the Government of Israel as well, and attempt to facilitate an open discussion between the two bodies. We have an obligation to try to make diplomacy work — before diplomacy is no longer a viable option.

I guess it's possible with time and power sharing Hamas could become another Ourselves Alone (Shin fain) and the IRA (The IRA attached to Shin fain and not the splinter groups we hear about blowing things up now and then). Even though Ourselves alone is not 100% successful into intergration, over the last 80 year's things have totally changed and they are more like the moderate Republicans of the 1930's with there rhtoric. But in a sence you could also say this may have been caused by the recent advancement of seculerization in Ireland brought about by the Economic bomb of the 90's. I don't think Palistine has the ability to really thrive economically like Ireland has recently. Of course I guess people thought the same of Ireland less then 20 years ago.

Diplomacy is not all about just holding a continuous
dialogue.

Continuous dialogue is not the holy grail.

A car salesman knows that diarhea of the mouth
will kill a sale.

Sometimes you gotta say something and then SHUT UP
and wait. And watch.

Or be willing to walk.

Continuous dialogue is the diarhea of diplomacy.

Diplomacy to be effective is the art of leverage
and bargaining, and stopping and walking away,
or resuming talk.

So you think Hamas can be brought to the table? But really when you use past terrorist or Freedom fighting orginizations, a nation in such deep poverity is usually brought to more extremes. You need economic success before Hamas can be moderated. =-/ Of course I guess there's always a first time for everything.

Hank C, even if Canada is not "the highest," let's say, in terms of influence, does that mean we shouldn't even try?

I would also suggest that during the meeting, Canadian officials dress like Arabs and have a government appointed Mullah who could give Hamas a lecture about how their behaviour is un-islamic :)

They better be careful for what they wish for, the Jews are very strong in there beliefs as well . They don't go around with sucide bombs , but I am willing to bet they wouldn't have a problem launching a missle. I blame these past few years of Turmoil on Satellite TV and the internet. It has changed the whole future of planet Earth.
