Looks like Gurmant Grewal and his have been breaking the law.

Now, according to the standards that the Harperites apply to others, this shows that there is widespread corruption within the Conservative Party. I think a major investigation is in order, not just of Grewal and his wife, but of the entire CPC.

The state of politics in this country is disgusting  . There needs to be a complete overhaul of all the parties done, and perhaps more vigilant screening of the member. It's unfortunate that it's coming to a point that we need to babysit our politicians. I thought that they were supposed to be looking out for the people's needs, now the people have to ensure that those who are supposed to be looking out for them are not ruining them and stabbing them in the back.

These boys would fit in well with a room full of two year olds hitting the " gimmie, gimme, mine!" :crybaby: stage

RE: Gurmant in Trouble Ag

The state of politics in this country is not too far off the state of politics in the US and Britain...the only other two developed countries to use a first past the post election system. The zero-sum outcome encourages corruption.

This just in...Stephen Harper is standing beside Grewal. Looks like the corruption goes all the way to the top of the party.

I dunno guys...as much as it pains me to say this maybe Gurmant is just the victim of being "in the wrong place at the wrong time".

The act of recording conversations is one thing, but I would think withholding tax reciepts is a felony. I don't think any politician, no matter the party or level of corruption, would make that big of a mistake, on purpose no less.

I'm inclined to think it's just a misunderstanding and the reciepts were just forgotten about or misplaced.

True that doesn't excuse the wrongdoing, but that doesn't mean he's corrupt either.

I hereby award the Annual Mr. Potatoe Head Award to G. Grewal. Although it is only July, Mr. Grewal has demonstrated a complete absence of common sense, integrity and political know-how.
Well done Mr. Grewal. Just think, if your wife was able to talk, she might be eligible for the Mrs. Potatoe Head Award.

He endorsed the cheques himself, the agent who worked on the campaign said he never saw the cheques, and recepts have been asked for and not issued. That's not an accident.

I just want the CPC to hold themselves to the same standards they hold everybody else to though. We need a full RCMP investigation of party finances.

So, for $2400.00 you get bent out of shape, but for millions in Adscam, billions in HRDC and billions more in EI, you make excuses? What kind of standards do you have.

You want to call an investigation, do it for all parties. Lets find out how much union money went to the NDP as well, union money which bought the unions zero influence.

Blair, I agree. Full investigations for all parties. No exceptions. Agreed?

It sure never ends with Gurment does it? Always one thing with this clown after another. I wonder whats next? I also wonder why Harper has not kicked him out of party, since Grewal would never resign on his own. Well I hope he is not running again, but he wont get re elected anyways.

Grewal was on TV the other day and was asked about the tapes being doctored or not and he said "I am proud to be a whistleblower" Like wtf is that?

Maybe his pet name for Harper is Whistle?

That Harper won't at least distance himself from Grewal does kind of point to the corruption going to the top. Harper must hanging on to this idiot for some reason, and the most obvious one is to keep him quiet. Even Harper isn't politically moronic enough to hang on to a liability this big for no reason, is he?

From the July 9 National Post
OTTAWA - Embattled Conservative MP Gurmant Grewal handed over additional tapes to the RCMP within the past two weeks, a move that suggests the recorded talks between himself and senior Liberals that he had earlier made public were incomplete.

Mr. Grewal made recordings available in late May that showed he had been in talks with Health Minister Ujjal Dosanjh and Tim Murphy, Prime Minister Paul Martin's chief of staff, about exchanging rewards, such as a Cabinet post or Senate seat, for crossing the floor or abstaining from key confidence votes.

At the time, the Conservatives insisted Mr. Grewal had handed over "all of the tapes" to Opposition leader Stephen Harper, and the party posted "the complete audio file" on to Mr. Grewal's Web site for public scrutiny. The party also said it would give the tapes to the RCMP.

However, the RCMP says it has received new tapes that will extend the original timeline of its review of the affair.

Hmmm...what's up with these tapes anyway?
